SWEEP-Net

SWEEP-Net is a regional network that aims at institutionally anchoring the principles of a sustainable and integrated solid waste management in the MENA region. This is achieved through setting-up a common regional platform for technical assistance, capacity building and exchange of best practices, expertise and experiences in the field of Solid Waste Management. Ten countries from the Mashreq and Maghreb region have already joined the network and officially designated national coordinators (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen). The Network members are experts, consulting firms, private operators, municipalities, NGOs, academia, donors, ministries and public institutions, other networks, etc. The Network secretariat is located in Tunisia and is currently supported by the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) and the Tunisian Government through the National Waste Management Agency “ANGed”.
