Sailing Off Course

An adventure is over ⛵️🌏
Or as we say in Norwegian: Snipp, snapp, snute - så var eventyret ute.

479 days later. 18 920 nautical miles later. Half a world later.

We have now hugged each other goodbye in the marina in Gold Coast. Jørgen and Filip are now exploring Japan, Marius is in Melbourne, and Jonas just picked up a camper van to explore the east coast of Australia 🌏.

It’s definitely sad to end the trip, but at the same time it feels right. We really feel like we ended it on a high note, and we’re now ready for new adventures.

We have in total sailed 18 920 nautical miles, which converts to 35 000 km. And earth’s circumference is 40 000 km. Which means we’ve almost sailed one entire round around the world. Insane 🤯.

And all this while still remaining good friends and having a blast while doing it 🥹. We’re so happy and grateful have made our dreams reality, and so thankful to have had all of you guys with us along the way. Thank you for following us and letting us share our trip with you 🫶🏽

WE MADE IT! 🥹
During the past 1 year and 4 months out at sea, we’ve sailed 18 915 nautical miles. And we have spent 125 whole days sailing ⛵️💨. These miles and these days have taken us all the way from Tønsberg in Norway to Gold Coast in Australia 🇦🇺. Through the world’s two largest oceans 🌊. It’s pretty insane to say that we have sailed more than half way around the world 🌏🤯. Our adventure ends here in a weeks time, and looking back we’re pretty proud of what we’ve accomplished, and that this idea and dream actually became a reality 🥹.

Tanna - Bundaberg ⛵️💨
We now sailed over 1000 nautical miles during 9 days from Tanna in Vanuatu to Bundaberg in Australia. We’ve now sailed from Norway to Australia 🇦🇺! That feels pretty sick 😳.

The passage we now had started a little rough 🙃. Our dinghy dropped halfway down in the water due to the attachment point loosening… This of course happened during 2-3 meter waves from the front, but thankfully we managed to fix the situation, and got away from it with just a few bruises 🙃.

The rest of the passage can be concluded like this: slow and little wind, but also dolphins and sunsets 🥹.

Vanuatu 🇻🇺. Good friends, volcano visit, rainy days and insane roads. This past week we’ve been in Vanuatu, and now we set sail towards the very last (!) country on our adventure. Australia, here we come! 🇦🇺

After more than 6 months (!) on board, Ludvik has now left us and continues his travels on land 🚶🏽‍♂️🎒. And after 2 months on board, Audun flies back home to Norway ✈️.

Both of these guys are childhood friends of ours, and it’s so nice to have good friends on board our floating home around the world. Thanks for the good times, laughs and adventures 🥰🫶🏽.

WE’RE ENDING THE TRIP 😢
Yes, you read that correctly. In a little over a month’s time, when we get to Australia, we are going to sell our boat and end this adventure.

A few months ago, we started talking about selling the boat when we get to Australia. There are many reasons for this, and the biggest benefit of them all is that the Australian boat market is better than the Norwegian one.

One important thing to mention is that there is absolutely no bad vibes between any of us! This is a mutual decision that we all agree on. To put it very simply: it’s just that we’re four guys with different plans and dreams in life, and that means that the best thing to do now is sell the boat. We also feel that it’s a great timing to end the trip, as we really end it on a high note after almost 1,5 incredible years 🥹.

As we sell the boat, we have different plans for the future. Jørgen, Filip and Marius are flying back to Norway by the end of this year, working until next summer, then starting different studies at home 📚. Jonas is changing out the boat with a backpack and starts a backpacking trip on land in Asia. Marius and Jonas are also really eager to buy their own boats some time, so don’t be surprised if we start posting here again with other boats in the future! 😌

But in the meantime: we still are not finished with the trip! We’re going to continue posting until we leave the boat, so stay tuned for what’s to come!

We must also mention that we really appreciate all of you guys following us and supporting our adventure! 🥹

Our stop in Tonga was a short one 🇹🇴. After a few days we decided just to head straight for Fiji (instead of exploring the Tongan islands). That’s the beauty of travelling like we do - there’s no flight to catch. If we want to stay a place for a longer time - we do. If we want to leave - we do! So now we’re very soon on Fiji - ready to haul out the boat and get some work done! 🇫🇯

Niue - it has been a blast 🫶🏽
A small island we initially were going to sail past, suddenly became a place filled with memories, new adventures and new friendships 🥹.

This place inhabits some of the sweetest and most hospitable people we’ve met during our whole trip halfway around the world. Everyone waves at each other on the streets, says hi and greets you wherever you go. And even if you’re just in need to do your laundry, you suddenly end up befriending the laundry lady and come back for dinners, drinks and good conversations time and time again 🥹🥰.

At the store the cashier pays for you if you haven’t had time to withdraw cash yet, and at the bar you get invited to sit with some random people that you end up spending the rest of the night with 🫂🍻. If we’d had the time - we’d for sure stayed longer. And not to talk about the nature!! Going to have to make an entire post for that ⛰️🌴🪸
