We're getting ready for our Dance Fitness Instructor Training Program! 💃

TongaHealth is excited to welcome back Amanaki Fo'ou, with a team of amazing dance fitness instructors visiting all the way from the United States, to lead a Dance Fitness Instructor Training here in Tonga!

This training prepares Tongan instructors to confidently lead safe, fun, and effective dance fitness classes. Participants will develop skills in choreography, cueing, class design, coaching, and motivating people of all ages and fitness levels💪

Our ‘Health Promotion Action in Setting’ (HPAS) funding 🤝

On 7 July 2026, TongaHealth proudly signed an agreement under our HPAS funding program with the SUTT Niuafo'ou Youth Group to support a sports program involving youth from different churches across the island.

This program aims to encourage regular physical activity, build unity among young people and promote healthy lifestyles through a variety of sporting activities to help reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The funding will support the purchase of sports equipment and other resources needed to successfully deliver the program and encourage active participation among youth in Niuafo'ou.

Continue on our “Sustainable Impact Grant (SIG)” funding🤝

On 1 July 2026, TongaHealth proudly signed an agreement with Hon. Fane Fituafe under our SIG program, providing TOP $21,450.00 to implement the ‘Tongatapu 6 Constituency Community Sports Activation Program 2026.’

The funding will support community sports days, health awareness activities and social media campaigns that encourage people of all ages to be physically active and adopt healthy lifestyles.

This partnership aims to create more opportunities for active living and contribute to the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the Tongatapu 6 Constituency.

Continue on our "Sustainable Impact Grant (SIG)" funding🤝

On 30 June 2026, TongaHealth proudly signed three agreements under our SIG program with Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MAFF) Ha'apai, 'Uluaki Faiako Incorporated and the Tonga Office of the Auditor General (TOAG) to support initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles.

MAFF Ha'apai received TOP $20,000.00 to implement the "Planting Prosperity and Resilience" project, which will raise and distribute 1,800 vegetable seedlings to households across Ha'apai, establish home vegetable gardens and deliver healthy food preparation sessions to encourage nutritious eating and improve access to fresh, locally grown produce.

'Uluaki Faiako Incorporated received TOP $24,480.00 to implement the "Promoting Health and Wellbeing of Our Future Generation - 'Eua" project, creating safe and inclusive outdoor play spaces for young children, including children with disabilities to promote active play and healthy development.

Tonga Office of the Auditor General (TOAG) received TOP $4,610.00 to implement the "TOAG 2026 Healthy Journey" program, supporting weekly Zumba sessions, staff sports activities and workplace wellness programs that encourage their employees to stay active and improve their overall health.

These initiatives reflect our shared commitment to building a healthy, more active and more resilient Tonga for everyone.

Our ‘Sustainable Impact Grant’ (SIG) funding🤝

On 29 June 2026, TongaHealth proudly signed three agreements under our SIG program with BroadCom FM87.5 Broadcasting , Kosilio Vahenga Pangaimotu Incorporated and Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to support each program that promote healthy lifestyles and help prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across Tonga.

Broadcom Limited received TOP$30,000.00 to help support nationwide health awareness through radio and digital media, encouraging healthy choices and greater community engagement in NCD prevention.

Kosilio Vahenga Pangaimotu Incorporated received TOP$8,375.81 to support the construction of a greenhouse for the ‘Utungake Community Garden’ project in Vava’u, increasing access to fresh, locally grown vegetables while encouraging healthy eating, community participations and sustainable food production.

Ministry of Internal Affairs received TOP$39,400.00 to support the ‘Fiefia Tonga Sports 2026-2027’ program, promoting regular physical activity and active living among civil servants and public sectors employees in Tongatapu and outer islands.

These initiatives reflect our shared commitment to build a healthy, more active and more informed Tonga for all.

📢 Review of Tonga’s NCD-Related Laws

TongaHealth is pleased to share a summary of the Review of NCD-Related Legislation in Tonga 2024.

The review looked at laws related to alcohol, healthy food and drinks, breastfeeding promotion and NCD taxes. It also identified areas where Tonga can refine its laws to better support healthy lifestyles and reduce the impact of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

These findings will help guide future efforts to support the wellbeing of all Tongans.

Stakeholder Mapping Workshop 2026📌

Today, TongaHealth brought together representatives from different organizations and sectors for our Stakeholder Mapping Workshop.

This workshop focused on identifying the people, groups and organizations working to improve health and well-being in Tonga. It also provided an opportunity to share ideas, strengthen relationships and explore ways we can work together more effectively to support healthy communities and reduce the impact of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Our ‘Health Promotion Action in Setting’ (HPAS) funding👏

TongaHealth proudly signed an agreement under our HPAS funding program with Tonga High School (THS) to support the establishment of a Chess Club for students. This program aims to promote mental wellbeing, reduce stress, encourage strategic thinking and provide a safe and inclusive space for students to socialize through chess♟️

The funding will support the purchase of chess sets and chess clocks to help grow this positive activity for students at THS.
