Turkic Wikimedians

We are pleased to announce that Wikimedians of Turkic Languages User Group and Wikimedia Deutschland will host 2027 in Istanbul, Türkiye, in collaboration with Üsküdar Üniversitesi.

The conference will take place on 29–31 October 2027, with the dates coinciding with a very special milestone: ’s 15th birthday on 29 October 2027.

WikidataCon 2027 will bring together the global Wikidata community to connect, exchange knowledge, share experiences, celebrate this important anniversary, and explore the future of Wikidata.

We look forward to welcoming Wikim(p)edians, Wikidata contributors, partners, and open-knowledge enthusiasts from around the world to Istanbul for three days of collaboration, learning, community building, and celebration.

To celebrate Wikipedia's 25th anniversary, our community organized a birthday party with Wikimedia Türkiye in Istanbul on Saturday. Participants shared how they started contributing to Wikipedia and which article they created first; they competed in a Wikipedia Quiz and celebrated Wikipedia's 25th birthday with cake.
