Flashback 2025:
A great year of learning, deepening friendships and still being curious about our surroundings in nature or city. Language Walk had a blast in Kaohsiung and Taipei and we also added Taichung as another Language Walk city.
What 2025 moments were most memorable for you?

Join our 2nd anniversary Language Walk to Wulai!
There is still so much to explore! This time, we will also include the suspension bridge, the mini train and the cable car to a hidden mountain resort that is half taken over by nature.
Join us via the new app!
https://app.languagewalk.com
We meet at 08.55-09.00 am on September 20 at Dapinglin MRT Station exit 5 and take the bus together to Wulai!
更新:本週日下午有雷雨的機率是50%,考慮到纜車可能停駛,因此這週的Language Walk改到上午九點半,一樣在動物園二號出口見。
The chance of thunderstorms this Sunday afternoon is 50%, which may cause the gondola to be suspended. Therefore, this week's Language Walk is rescheduled to 9:30 AM. We will still meet at Exit 2, Taipei Zoo MRT Station.
不同於以往,九點35分就會直接往貓纜站移動,再利用排隊時間報到付費。晚到的人就請自行到貓纜站來會合。
Unlike before, we will start walking toward the Gondola Station at 9:35 AM and complete check-in and payment while waiting in line. If you arrive late, please meet us directly at the Gondola Station.
活動會在12點半前結束,視天氣情況決定在山上或到政大附近吃午飯。下山有可能碰到貓纜停駛,雖然還有公車可坐,只是不確定會不會很滿。建議下午有行程的人要留意交通時間。
The event will end by 12:30 PM. We will decide whether to have lunch on the mountain or near NCCU depending on the weather. Please note that the gondola might stop operating when we head down. Although buses are available, they might be crowded. If you have plans in the afternoon, please factor in extra travel time.

🗺️ 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻: 𝗔 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆
How do you find something new in a place everyone already knows?
Since most people in our Taipei community have been to Yuanshan and Maji Square, that was exactly the challenge for our latest Language Walk.
As my co-organizer Fulan and I often agree: no matter how familiar a city seems, there are always hidden corners left to explore. We’ve seen this across our events in Taipei. And not even talking about the four walks in Kaohsiung that I organized with Annie (and the last with Oli), or mapping out entirely fresh routes in Taichung, Tainan (with Sophie), Chiayi (with Josh), and even Dresden!
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲 & 𝗘𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁
After scouting via Google Maps and an in-person walkthrough, I found the perfect route to balance the outdoors with the 30°C summer heat.
𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 & 𝗔𝗿𝘁: We kicked off at the MRT, snapped some great photos at a local Buddhist temple, and transitioned through Maji Square straight into the glorious A/C of the Art Museum! Here, we broke into small groups to chat in French, Spanish, Chinese, and English.
𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 & 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀: We then wandered towards the Rose Garden, passing some massive Banyan trees and then global rose varieties, before heading into the Botanical Garden.
𝗔𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗢𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀 & 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
The absolute highlight? Stepping into the Botanical Garden's alpine zone. Swapping the 30°C outdoor heat for a comfortable 18°C was the perfect environment for some 1-on-1 language practice.
Linguistically, this walk was incredibly diverse. We had a good group of Japanese speakers. We also hosted an intensive language session around the tables for German and Spanish practice before heading back out into the midday heat.
𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹
Our final stretch took us to the beautiful Lin An Tai historical building (a big thanks to Petr and Su for the amazing photos!).
We wrapped up with our traditional session: "What have you learned today, and do you have anything to promote?" It is always so inspiring to see the incredible activities that community members are building around health, fitness, and languages. I’m really looking forward to attending some of them!
We also practiced a ritual introduced by Lex a few walks ago: The synchronized one clap of gratitude. 👏 It’s such a simple, grounding element to end our walks.
Finally, we cooled off again at Taipei Story House / Maison ACME. It was incredibly rewarding to hear that spots like the alpine area were brand new to almost everyone.
(And a quick apology to Mischa—I know you prefer our more challenging hikes, but I hope you still enjoyed this "simple stroll" 😉).
Thank you to everyone who joined! Where should we explore next in Taipei?

🌪️ 𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗻!
Our recent Kaohsiung Language Walk didn't exactly go according to plan, but it turned into an unforgettable weekend of spontaneity, community, and linguistics.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁
We had everything planned for Saturday, July 11th, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Due to an incoming typhoon, we had to make the tough call to cancel. We waited until the very last moment, but had to cancel it the evening before the walk. However, when the skies started clearing up on Saturday evening, we decided to seize the moment and spontaneously scheduled a Sunday walk.
𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 & 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀
Dedication comes in many forms! Sunday kicked off in the very early hours with four of us meeting up at a local bar to watch the World Cup football match before transitioning straight into the Language Walk.
𝗔 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽
Given the incredibly short notice, we were thrilled to gather a cozy group of 9 people! While it was smaller than usual, the intimate setting was a success. We had the chance to dive into some really fun topics, spending a lot of time analyzing different English accents (especially from the US South!) and picking up some Indonesian, alongside a few other languages. Still, it was not perfect but a show of determination and resilience. Two important ingredients for language learning success.
𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱
A huge shoutout to Oli for co-leading this walk with me, and a massive thank you to the participants who rolled with the punches and joined us despite the last-minute changes. Also great to have Mischa Wilmers and Adam with us again.
We will definitely be back in Kaohsiung in the future, and we hope to make it even bigger next time!

We had a wonderful Language Walk in Dresden!
Thank you all so much!! It has been my dream from the very beginning to internationalise Language Walk and now the first step is done. We had a wonderful walk in Dresden even though the weather was cold. Many people joined Asiaglot 多語遊習坊 before and that's how we got a good group together. I am very impressed that people travelled from all over Europe to attend this Language Walk in Dresden.
More to come! Stay tuned!
