See you there! Booth #1215

The “Depth Charge” is a Framework Desktop Case Mod created by hobbyist case modder Arkratos. It features an innovative pumpless water-cooling system, which utilizes gravity and a custom tilting mechanism to move liquid back and forth between twin reservoirs.

We interviewed Arkratos on the build ➡️

”Last year at the 2025 Quake Con Case modding competition the second place had a computer designed to look like the shield from the most recent Doom game. The shield was also a chainsaw and the computer had fake blades that popped out and spun around, it was really spectacular. That inspired me to want to incorporate motion into my next computer and I remembered this build someone did back in 2018 (The Crescent by “CPSM”) where the entire computer tilted to cool the computer.”

“I decided I wanted to do that but make it look less like a tech demo and have more of a cohesive design. The design challenge was getting everything to fit and visually fill the space without making everything too big.”

“I really respect Framework as a company, their commitment to sustainability, right to repair, and modularity is top notch. The platform being Ryzen AI Max+ really simplified the water-cooling design.  The fact that Framework also didn't just create a proprietary mini-pc like everyone else but instead conformed to industry standards really made it a no-brainer.”

“Standard power connectors?  Check!  Two M.2s and a usable PCIe slot?  Check!  Good motherboard IO?  Check!  Sure I could have probably made other Strix Halo motherboard work, but it would have been much more difficult and I wouldn't have been able to utilize the PCIe slot and M.2 slots like I was able to.”

Hardware Components:

Framework Desktop Mainboard Ryzen™ AI Max+ 395 - 64GB
Visible PCIe card: Sinefine USB PCIe Card Power Delivery 4 USB Type-C
Hidden PCIe card: Intel Arc B50 Pro Storage: Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2TB
Power Supply: HDPLEX 500W GaN AIO(All-In-One) ATX Power Supply

The system is tilted by a Arduino Nano Every mechanism

“And the goal of the build is… a manta ray! And to suit the nerd that I am and my childhood love of beast wars/transformers, I will call this build Dept
