What if a holiday could become a lesson they never forget?

In Tanzania, the classroom has no walls. It’s watching a dung beetle roll its tiny treasure across the track. Following animal footprints in the sand. Learning the difference between a bird call and a monkey alarm. Sitting around a campfire listening to stories from someone who has spent their life in the bush.

And sometimes, it’s simply stopping to ask, “What’s that?” for the hundredth time.

We love seeing Tanzania through children’s eyes. Their curiosity slows everyone down and turns the little things into big discoveries.

From Dudu (bug) and bush walks to campfire stories, wildlife tracking, exploring the forest and learning about the people and landscapes that make Tanzania so special, a family safari can be so much more than seeing the Big Five.

It can spark curiosity, build confidence, connect children with nature and leave them with a lifelong love of wild places.

These men and women work so hard to make sure our guests are well taken care of. From carrying bags, food, gas cylinders for cooking, the emergency oxygen, a gammow bag, tents, and much much more!

There is so much beauty to be captured 😍

Did you know that baby baboons are born with dark, almost black coats? As they grow, their fur gradually changes to the familiar colouring of an adult baboon.

For now, though, these little ones have the best seat in the house - riding around on Mum’s back, holding on tight while she gets on with baboon business! 🖤🐒

There’s something rather special about seeing this side of Tanzania’s wildlife: the tiny details, the family bonds and all the everyday moments that are easy to miss when you’re rushing from one sighting to the next.

Slow down. Look closer. There’s always more going on in the wild.

Appreciation post for Sylvester - who started with us as a porter on the mountain, and showed interest in the camps. Between the office and camps, he's gaining confidence and training in being a waiter as well as English - and going from strength to strength. Such a hard worker and keen to learn, we are happy to have you on the team, Sylvester! 😄

Appreciation post for Maumba - who has been with us for many decades now and is one of our head chefs.

Maumba is not only a great chef, but a great mentor - showing his passion in training others in the kitchen and beyond. He is an integral part of the AE family, and we're lucky to have him around. Maumba, like all our head chefs, rotates around our camps each season, and you will currently find him based at our Itikoni Camp in Arusha National Park.

Getting out of the car and being in nature is a huge part of a safari with us. Whether it's a multi-day walking safari, or walking here and there - it all counts. Slow down, let you senses come alive, and really just enjoy being in the wilderness whenever possible.
