Tarangire holds over 500 recorded bird species, and September is when serious birders quietly start booking around Serian.

Migrant species overlapping with residents, water drawing in raptors and waterbirds alike, and guides who can call a species from a silhouette at fifty metres.

The season serious birders keep quiet about, mostly so they don't have to share it.

Every stay at Naserian sits inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which means the ground you're walking on is shared with the Maasai communities who have always called it home.

Our conservation levy goes toward that relationship: community partnerships, ranger support, and keeping the camp itself fully solar powered, a hundred percent, since the day it opened.

Follow along for the season ahead.

Our head guide, Inno, crouches at a dry riverbed near Serian Tarangire, reads a set of fresh tracks nobody else in the vehicle noticed, and the whole morning's plan changes in under a minute.

He grew up tracking elephant through these same riverbeds. That's not a line on a brochure, it's the reason the drive works the way it does.

Expertise you genuinely can't script.

Three of our guides' favourite spots to end a game drive from Olkarien, each one private, each one a different view of the same plain turning gold.

A folding table, drinks poured, snacks laid out, and nowhere else you'd rather be at that exact hour.

Where the day ends well.

Elephant diary, this week from camp: a calf near Serian Tarangire has been grazing in its mother’s shadow, still working out how to use its trunk while she moves through the grass with practised ease.

With the dry season drawing the herds toward the Tarangire River, our guides have found this pair along the same stretch most afternoons. Tembo move slowly here, and the best sightings reward the same patience.

Tell us in the comments: which animal would you most want to spend an afternoon with?

Some places check you in. Enkirari sings you in.
You hear it before you see it. A clap, a song, and the whole camp moving toward you.

This is how Enkirari says karibu.

A lot of people assume the migration is finished by September. The herds near Enkutoto haven't read that memo.

Wildebeest and zebra are still moving through the north, elephant and buffalo hold their ground at the water, and the birdlife along the Mara River is as busy as we've seen it all year.

Low season doesn't mean low wildlife. It means fewer vehicles watching it with you.

Save this for your 2027 planning.

Lion diary, this week from camp: the pride near Enkutoto has been holding territory close to the river crossings, taking full advantage of the herds still moving through the north.

Our guides have tracked them most mornings this week. This is the kind of sighting report you only get from a team that's out there daily, not once a season.

Tell us in the comments what you'd want to see on your first drive.
