☀️ A Week of Learning, Connection & Fun at Simbas! 💛

Last week, we held our annual Simbas Summer Camp, bringing together children and young people from across our programs for a full week of learning, creativity, play, and connection.

Throughout the week, the children participated in different activities designed not only to be fun, but also to create opportunities to learn, build friendships, express themselves, work together, and simply enjoy being kids.

One of the things we value most about Summer Camp is the opportunity it gives our team to spend meaningful time with the children and young people we work with. Beyond our regular programs and activities, these moments help us strengthen relationships, listen, laugh together, and continue building the sense of community that is at the heart of Simbas Footprints.

We were especially excited to see so many children showing up and participating throughout the week. Their energy, curiosity, laughter, and enthusiasm made this year’s camp incredibly special. ❤️

We’re excited to continue our partnership with Songambele Initiative , bringing digital marketing training to our community in collaboration with Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Tanzania (DOT).

What makes this especially meaningful is seeing local leaders and community members actively involved in the learning process. By building skills locally, we help ensure that knowledge doesn’t leave when a training ends—it stays, grows, and continues to benefit others.

From tailoring and entrepreneurship to digital skills, we’re proud to keep creating spaces where women and youth can learn, connect, and build new possibilities.

We recently held a Trauma Awareness Training with our cohort of community stakeholders — creating a space to learn, reflect, and better understand how trauma affects individuals, families, and communities.

At Simbas Footprints Foundation, we believe lasting change happens when communities are equipped with the knowledge and tools to lead solutions themselves. As a locally led organization, we’re proud to create platforms that strengthen the people who are already showing up for their communities every day.

From our after-school program to contributing to one of East Africa’s major oil refinery projects — Johnson’s journey is a powerful reminder of what opportunity can do.

Johnson began his journey with Simbas Footprints Foundation as a young participant in our programs. Through educational support and a scholarship opportunity, he pursued vocational skills training in Moshi and Dar es Salaam. Today, he proudly shared with us that he is working on an oil refinery project serving countries across East Africa.

Stories like Johnson’s inspire us and remind us that investing in children and youth creates lasting impact for families, communities, and the future of our nation.

At Simbas Footprints Foundation, we believe that lasting change happens through collaboration.

We were honored to welcome the team from from Uganda to Tanzania for a meaningful exchange of ideas, experiences, and learning. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase our work, learn more about theirs, and explore how organizations across East Africa can work together to create greater impact in our communities.

As one of our core values, collaboration continues to guide how we build partnerships, strengthen local leadership, and amplify positive change. We are grateful for the inspiring conversations and connections made during this visit and look forward to the opportunities ahead.

Today, we proudly join the rest of Africa in celebrating the Day of the African Child.

Over the week, Simbas Footprints Foundation has collaborated with fellow NGOs, community members, schools, and government partners across Kilimanjaro to organize activities that educate, inspire, and empower children. Through awareness sessions, games, creative activities, and discussions on children’s rights, we have created spaces where children can learn, be heard, and thrive.

As we celebrate, we are reminded that every child deserves protection, quality education, opportunities to grow, and a voice in shaping their future.
