The Minister of Water and Environment, Gen. Kahinda Otafiire has announced an immediate end to the blanket amnesty previously granted to wetland encroachers, signaling a tougher environmental enforcement drive.
“Nature licenses hippos, fish, frogs and crocodiles. If you are not one of them, what are you doing in the wetland? Even if it is your mistress, get out… There should be no mercy for those degrading wetlands. Amnesty ends today,” Otafiire declared.
