“I dropped out of school... until my friend told me, ‘Come, we go to school.”
Meet Eritier Mwangaza, a P.5 pupil at Kakoni Primary in Kyegegwa District. After returning to class, he joined the GEM Club under CDFU’s project and learned how to set goals, communicate, and spot Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
When he found a classmate trapped in abuse at home, Eritier took action, reported the case to a trusted teacher, and got her back into the classroom. Today, she is studying to become a doctor.
Boys are powerful allies in keeping girls safe and in school.

Safety starts when learners look out for one another. 😍
CDFU trained 358 Girls Education Movement (GEM) Club learners across refugee-hosting districts under the UN Spotlight Initiative 2.0.
These young student leaders run daily peer sessions to stop Gender-Based Violence (GBV), share facts on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and protect their classmates.
Thanks to their daily work, reported violence in these schools is dropping steadily.

When health threats emerge, what trends online can either cause panic or save lives.
By empowering young digital leaders with accurate, reliable facts, we turn scrollers into trusted protectors. They bust rumors, share vital health information, and keep entire communities safe. Truth is our best shield.

No child should be brought to their knees just to get an education.
In Iganga, learners from 115 schools took the stage at the National MDD Competition 2026 to expose the harsh truths driving school dropouts: Gender-Based Violence, deep-seated cultural norms, poverty, and the silence surrounding SRHR.
Through music, dance, and drama, these young advocates turned pain into performances, demanding safety, equality, and a seat in the classroom.

UN Spotlight Initiative 2.0 is the main-sponsor of this movement, putting young voices at the center of social change.

Access to justice begins right where you live✨

Through the Advancing Justice program, we are working to ensure every community member understands how to navigate local justice systems with confidence.

Why this matters:
🔹 Clear Roles: Understanding what LC1 courts can legally handle versus what requires police intervention.
🔹 Diversion: Settling minor disputes locally to save time, reduce costs, and promote peaceful reconciliation.
🔹 Stronger Leadership: Ensuring LC1 leaders operate with clarity, fairness, and accountability.

When communities know their rights and utilize local LC1 courts correctly, minor cases are resolved faster, peaceful co-existence grows, and formal legal systems aren’t overwhelmed.

Do you know which minor cases your local LC1 court can handle? Let us know in the comments!
