The Islamic University in Uganda, IUIU is a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), a body which represents fifty seven member countries from Asia, Africa, Europe and South America. The university is located on the out skirts of Mbale town eastern Uganda with 3 branches in Kampala, capital of Uganda (Kampala campus-Kibuli and Females’ campus-Kabojja) and Arua district in northern Uganda (Arua campus). The Mbale campus is the main and the first campus established in 1988 following the 1974 OIC decision to start an Islamic University in Uganda for the English speaking member countries of the OIC.

IUIU Hosts Dialogue on Islamization and Integration of Knowledge
The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) is hosting a forum on “Islamization/Integration of Knowledge in Universities: Experiences and Lessons Between IIT East & Southeast Asia and IIT East Africa” at the Main Campus in Mbale.
The event is facilitated by visiting Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rashaad Bakashmar and brings together Deans, Heads of Departments (HODs), and other members of staff for an engaging exchange of knowledge and experiences.
Key discussion areas include the role of universities in Islamization/Integration of Knowledge research activities, managing Islamization/Integration of Knowledge initiatives, and interactive group discussions to share experiences, identify challenges, and explore practical approaches to advancing the integration of knowledge in higher education.

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) hosted a team from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to assess facilities and academic resources supporting the University’s Faculty of Law.

The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) has officially commissioned the sponsored ESG garden benches at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Main Campus in Mbale.
The event also featured a tree-planting exercise at the Faculty of Engineering, where DPF planted and donated 500 trees to support environmental conservation and promote a greener, more sustainable campus.
We appreciate the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda for this meaningful partnership and for contributing to a greener IUIU. 🌱🌳

IUIU Kampala Campus Hosts TİKA Delegation
The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Kampala Campus today welcomed a delegation from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), led by Mr. Orhan Aydın, Head of the Middle East and Africa Department, and Mr. Murat Çetin, TİKA Programme Coordinator for Uganda.
The delegation was received by the Rector, Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, who led discussions reflecting on the long-standing relationship between IUIU and TİKA, and the range of projects the two institutions have implemented together over the years. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to expanding this partnership, with further joint projects planned.
In appreciation of TİKA's continued support and partnership, the Rector presented a plaque of appreciation to Mr. Aydın. The visit concluded with a tour of all ongoing Projects currently being hosted at the Kampala Campus (Leather Tailoring Workshop and Medical Lab Equipment), giving the delegation a firsthand look at the impact of the collaboration.
IUIU reaffirms its appreciation for TİKA's sustained investment in the university's growth and looks forward to deepening this partnership in the years ahead.
