Harbor Home Dog Rescue
June 24, 2025
Hello!
I want to thank you for your wonderful support and donations to Harbor Home Dog rescue these past couple of years. Your donations have helped with vet appointments, surgeries, a couple of porcupine encounters, food and medicine for the dogs that have come to the rescue as well as several people in the community that needed assistance with their dogs.
After a little over two years, I have decided to go back to fostering for shelters or other rescues. I feel I am more effective to have my home available for them in fostering rather than running a rescue. I will leave the rehoming to the experts that are more effective, and support where I can.
There are a few other rescues and shelters around Grays Harbor that you can donate to.

The number of dogs that need help continues to grow.
We can’t save them all, but we can continue trying.
Thank you again,
Penny

Chopper was a longtime foster of ours and today he went over rainbow bridge. He was a sweet boy that was abandoned by friends of the owners back in June of 2023. We found the owners who were unable to take him back due to their living situation. We took him in and got him on the road to a better life and better health. Goodbye Chopper you were a good boy!
HHDR received a message through messenger that our page is in violation of the Meta trademark policy. I'm worried it's a scam, so I'm not clicking on any links. If it's not then our page might go down for awhile until I figure out what exactly the page is in violation of.

This is what it looks like when you surrender your dog to a shelter. This is from a dog who was dropped off to the shelter after being in a quiet home, with a bed, with a family. This is diarrhea from having an upset stomach. Have you ever been so anxious to the point where you get sick to your stomach? This is a 24/7 feeling for a dog who has been surrendered. “Where is my family?” “Why am I in a cage?” “Why are all these dogs barking at me?” Imagine one day you’re taken from your luxurious life and thrown in prison for no reason, never to see your family again. Did you know 50% of dogs who are surrendered to a shelter don’t make it out? Pets are a lifelong commitment. Do not get an animal if you cannot financially, emotionally, or physically care for one. Newsflash, there is no such thing as a perfect dog or cat. They are expensive and a lot of freaking work. The loyalty of an animal is unmatched. They would never do it to you, so don’t do it to them.
