As the season changes, it's the perfect time to talk about a different kind of fall, the kind we work hard to help prevent every day.

Falls are one of the top reasons for hospitalization among seniors. Every year, one in three adults over the age of 65 experiences a fall, resulting in more than 2.8 million injuries, over 800,000 hospitalizations, and 27,000 deaths annually.

That's why Family Home Health Network offers an extensive Fall Prevention Program, designed to help clients stay safe, steady, and independent at home.

Our program focuses on:
-Fall awareness and education
-Comprehensive screenings to identify fall risk factors
-Individualized care plans to improve strength, mobility, gait, and balance
-Home modifications that support independence
-Vision, hearing, and vertigo screenings
-Consistent monitoring of vital signs, medications, and pain management

This fall, let's focus on keeping our loved ones on their feet, not just enjoying the season. Learn more about our home health programs here: https://bit.ly/3FIwXyI

Fall brings so many fun seasonal activities, like apple picking at an orchard, visiting a pumpkin patch to pick out some decorations, and tailgating fo ryour favorite team. Go bears!

A lot of these activities are good exercise, too, even if they don't feel like a workout.

-Raking leaves builds upper body and core strength.
-Picking apples improves reach, stretching, and balance.
-Decorating for fall works your arms and core while carrying pumpkins and setting up décor.
-Walking a corn maze adds up to solid low-impact cardio, backtracking included.
-Visiting a pumpkin patch means low-impact cardio on uneven ground.
-Tailgating gets you walking and climbing stairs more than you'd expect.

Enjoy the season!

This National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, we're celebrating the power of rehabilitation and the many forms it can take.

Whether it's physical therapy to rebuild strength, occupational therapy to relearn daily tasks, or speech therapy to support communication and swallowing, rehab helps people move forward after a health event and reclaim their independence.

We're proud to bring these services directly into the homes of the people who need them most.

64% of seniors say lack of transportation is a top reason they skip medical care.

While that's not the only reason we use telehealth monitoring, it's a meaningful one. Clients track vital signs like blood pressure or weight from home, with results going straight to our clinical team, who can catch changes early and loop in a physician when needed.

No ride required, just more independence and one more way to help clients stay safe at home.

Myth: Occupational therapy is about finding a job or recovering from a work injury.

Fact: One of the most common misconceptions in home health is what occupational therapy actually does. Occupational therapy is about relearning or modifying the everyday tasks that make up daily life.

After a stroke, injury, or hospital stay, some simple tasks, such as getting dressed or cooking a meal, can suddenly feel out of reach. An occupational therapist works with clients to rebuild the skills, confidence, and safe habits needed to manage them again, so daily life feels less overwhelming.

If a loved one is struggling with everyday activities after a health event, occupational therapy may be able to help. Contact us today. https://bit.ly/40IfVHN

Walking to the mailbox. Buttoning a shirt. Saying “I love you” after a stroke.
Rehabilitation is about getting those things back. This National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, we are sharing what that actually looks like.

Taking medications correctly is an important part of staying healthy. Staying organized helps ensure medications work as intended and reduces the risk of missed doses or errors.

-Use a pill organizer. Keep medications sorted by day and time.
-Set reminders. Alarms or phone alerts can help you stay on track.
-Keep a list. Write down all medications and dosages in one place.
-Check labels carefully. Always follow instructions and timing.

Fact: Home health care isn't just for people who are homebound. Many patients still attend appointments, visit family, or participate in activities while receiving skilled nursing or therapy services at home. Home health care is designed to provide support where it's needed while helping people maintain as much independence as possible.

Today we celebrate the older adults who have helped shape our families, communities, and lives through their wisdom, resilience, kindness, and experience.

Their stories, lessons, and perspectives remind us where we've been and help guide where we're going. We are grateful for the generations who have built, cared, taught, and inspired, and for the many ways they continue to enrich the lives of those around them.

To all the seniors in our communities, thank you for the contributions you've made and the lives you've touched. Today, we celebrate you.
