Today is the first official Dolly Parton Day, 09/25/2026.

Some lives are like stories we simply pass through. Others become stories we carry with us forever.

Dolly was one of those stories.

She filled her pages with music and mischief, rhinestones and wisdom, laughter and generosity. She could make us smile with one sentence, cry with the next, and somehow leave us feeling a little lighter than we were before.

There were chapters about dreams, chapters about struggle, and so many chapters about giving back. Through every one of them, she remained unmistakably Dolly—bright, funny, gracious, and wonderfully herself.

And somehow, no matter how long the story became, we were never ready for the last page.

August 25, 2026, the words stopped. Here, now a month later, somewhat coming to terms with this sad truth, we will celebrate all the wonderful memories we have of Dolly.

A life like hers doesn't really end with a final page. It lives on in every song we still know by heart, every person she helped, every laugh she gave us, and every bit of sparkle she left behind.

Dolly left behind A legacy of music, kindness, compassion and resilience.

So here's 10 things Dolly taught us: The lessons that she lived daily.

1. NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM.
Dolly grew up in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, and she carried those roots with her everywhere she went.

2. DREAM BIG — EVEN WHEN YOU START SMALL.
You don't need much to start chasing a dream. You need heart, grit and the courage to keep going.

3. WORK HARD.
Talent might open a door, but hard work keeps you in the room.

4. BE YOURSELF.
Dolly never tried to fit somebody else's mold. She became unapologetically Dolly.

5. KINDNESS MATTERS.
Being successful doesn't mean much if you can't treat people right.

6. GIVE BACK WHEN YOU CAN.
Her Imagination Library has gifted more than 325 million books to children around the world, inspired by her father's struggle with literacy.

7. DON'T BE ASHAMED OF YOUR ROOTS.
Your upbringing isn't something to hide. Sometimes those backroads are exactly where your strength comes from.

8. LAUGH A LITTLE.
Life gets tough. A good sense of humor can help you walk through hard times without losing yourself.

9. LIFT OTHER PEOPLE UP.
When you've got a little extra, share it. When somebody's struggling, lend a hand.

10. LEAVE SOMETHING GOOD BEHIND.
A song. A story. A helping hand. A child who learned to read. A person who felt loved.

That's the kind of legacy that lasts.

Dolly gave the world plenty of rhinestones, hit songs and big dreams...

But underneath all that was something much more country and real:

Work hard. Love people. Stay humble. Help somebody. Don't forget home, and Keep dreaming.

How lucky we were to be here at the same time as Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean.

The book may be closed... but what a story she gifted us. ✨💗

Dee Brock, the founding director of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, has died at the age of 96.

Long before the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders became one of the most recognizable groups in sports, Brock helped lay the foundation for what they would become. She led the squad beginning in the 1960s and helped create its early identity, including sketching the original concept for the now-iconic uniform.

Brock also helped integrate the cheerleading squad in 1965, and the uniform she helped create would eventually become such a recognizable piece of American pop culture that it was added to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History collection in 2018.

What started in Dallas grew into something recognized around the world, and Dee Brock was there at the very beginning.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders shared a tribute to their founding director, saying they would “forever honor her and her legacy.”

Rest in peace, Dee Brock.
