If you missed our Heritage USA video, it’s been getting a lot of attention today following the news that controversial televangelist Jim Bakker has died at 86.
I actually visited Heritage USA a few times as a young kid, and for its time, the water park was honestly one of the best around. I also got to see Jim Bakker in person a few times while he was filming his famous Christian television program, The PTL Club. My grandfather was a big supporter and donor, so the whole Jim and Tammy Bakker era was something I remember experiencing firsthand.
It was definitely a strange and fascinating time in television history.
And if you haven’t seen it yet, we also made a history video about Akron’s own legendary TV evangelist and the unfinished concrete tower that still stands today a very visible reminder of that era in religious television history.

We were out at Disney California Adventure for Oogie Boogie Bash, and as a tire guy, I couldn’t help but appreciate all the little automotive details Disney put into Cars Land, even recreating its own fictional tire brands and tires.
Radiator Springs Racers is easily one of the best Disney attractions out there, and the way Disney brings the automotive world to life is incredible.
Here’s a fun Goodyear connection: When Pixar was creating Cars, John Lasseter actually approached Goodyear because he wanted the movie to feel authentic, right down to the tires. That helped inspire the fictional “Lightyear” tires used throughout the Cars universe!
Goodyear also designed special tires for the original Test Track ride vehicles, which reportedly ran at around 70 psi to give Imagineers the ride characteristics they wanted for guests and traveled roughly 140 miles every day.

Here is our latest YouTube video from our visit a few weeks ago to the Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland! We had a blast! Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark was amazing, and we really love the Cars ride out there. It’s one of the best versions of Disney World’s Test Track ride system.
