Hikari Studios isn’t just Dweezil Zappa's home studio—it’s his sound exploration laboratory. Hikari means "light" in Japanese. In Finland, it more or less means "nerd."

"This, I guess, describes me perfectly,” Dweezil explains. “I like to nerd out on all things musical and shed light on the weird things that might come from it."

Dweezil has outfitted Hikari with a plethora of wondrous instruments like a “Stratelecaster” with a fixed bridge vibrato, a half fret-less Roxy SG, microtonal things, Atmos things, Angus things, Edward things, EarthQuaker things, and lots of Dweezil things.

He also told us about the "craziest experience he ever had" when he was 12 years old and shows off his mangled, earthquake-reliced Grammy.

By the way, Dweezil is moving to Tennessee. So, if you like what you see and have the means, his space could soon be yours!

A lot of people think our Plumes Small Signal Shredder is cool. (And if you're one of them, thank you—we think you're cool, too!)

But Sam Newman (a.k.a. "Plumes Guy") really thinks Plumes is cool. So cool that he collected 99 of them.

Recently, Sam brought his massive collection down to our studio in Akron and laid them all out for a family reunion with Jamie Stillman (a.k.a. "Plumes Dad"). What followed was either one of the coolest or nerdiest pedal conversations we've ever had—which one it is, is entirely subjective.
