The Nightlight is starting a book club! 📚🎬 We're kicking it off with the 2026 sci-fi horror film "Chronovisor" 👀

Read along with us throughout October, and join us for a discussion in our Mitten Media Library, following the 5:30PM Chronovisor screening on Thursday, 10/22. Faciliated by filmmaker, director, producer, casting director, and friend Aaron Schoonover.

Our October read is "When We Cease to Understand the World" by Benjamin Labatut, translated by Adrian Nathan West—which has been cited by CHRONOVISOR filmmakers Kevin Walker and Jack Auen as inspiration for the creation of the film.

“What that book accomplishes and what we hoped to accomplish with our film is to combine documentary and fiction to capture a truth larger than either could accomplish by itself.” - Jack Auen

WHAT WILL I BECOME? premieres at TONIGHT at 5:30PM 🎬❤️

Together, directors Lexie and Logan intertwine the stories of two young trans men no longer here today—homecoming king Blake Brockington and soft-spoken Kyler Prescott—who were poets, musicians and community advocates. The film traces their joys and challenges, their tragic deaths and resulting media attention, and the larger aftermath within their communities. It also uplifts resources that affirm trans boys and the LGBTQIA2S+ community, offering alternative forms of care, resilience and masculinity.

New ticket drop for this month! 🎟️🎬 Manhunter (1986 remaster), Atonement (2026), Office Killer (), and Chronovisor (2026). Now available on our website in the 🔗🔝

🎞️ MANHUNTER
A retired criminal profiler (William Petersen) reluctantly returns to the FBI to help track down a serial killer of families and is forced to consult an expert—the imprisoned Dr. Hannibal Lecktor (Brian Cox in a subtly chilling performance). The third feature written and directed by Michael Mann is a gripping adaptation of the first of Thomas Harris's four novels featuring the iconic murderer Lecktor, and benefits from the filmmaker's typically striking visuals as well as a top-notch supporting cast, including Tom Noonan as the hunted killer and three-time Oscar nominee Joan Allen as his blind love interest.

This new 4K Final Cut, overseen by Mann, enhances the film’s depth, visual clarity and sound, offering audiences the ultimate immersive version. Shot in 1986, Manhunter was on a frontier in both its subject matter and film form, initiating an impressive list of subsequent films and series.

🎞️ ATONEMENT
Tragedy strikes when a U.S. Marine accidentally kills three members of a family during a firefight in Baghdad, Iraq. Haunted by memories of war and racked with guilt, he tries to reconcile with the family matriarch years later.

🎞️ OFFICE KILLER
The work of NYC art legend Cindy Sherman was once described as “destabilizing reality.” That’s exactly what she does with OFFICE KILLER, Sherman’s first—and to this day, only—horror film as a director.

Dorine is a quiet, hardworking outcast who's endured years of abuse as the office doormat. One day she accidentally electrocutes one of her tormentors - and in the process short-circuits her sanity! A campy and darkly hilarious thriller.

🎞️ CHRONOVISOR
While writing a monograph on historical theories of memory, Béatrice (Anne Laure Sellier), a respected academic, becomes beguiled by the allegedly true story of the Chronovisor, an occult device said to reproduce visuals from any point in history on a TV screen. Her obsession with the mysterious machine drags her from her Upper East Side apartment through the depths of New York City’s hidden libraries, to the edge of a breakthrough.
