Landon’s first ride on FrankinMini was a success. Nothing fell off or broke, so far so good lol. This was his first time riding a mini bike so he started off a little slow, but he got aquatinted real quick lol
Welp here’s the first update on Landon’s mini bike “FrankinMini” project. He’s got the engine mounted, carb and header installed and a make shift fuel tank for now… yes it’s duct taped on lol. It started up on the third pull once the carb primed and it ran good. This is the 196cc engine he built out of random parts laying around my shop or in the building, so it’s not an all out drag/race engine but will be more than this mini bike needs because its going to be a pit bike at the track when finished. The engine looks to shake a little because the rookie builder didn’t tighten the back two mount bolts however, the tape job on the fuel tank is top shelf quality any Nascar team would appreciate. Again folks this is a project my 12 year old son is doing 90% by himself out of stuff in the shop he has to make fit. Nothing is new outside of the carb kit and header. Heck most of the fuel line is used… more updates coming soon because we still have some frame bracing and accessory changes to make before it’s ready to ride

The summer is almost over for our factory JR Dragster driver before school starts back in August, but that don’t mean he’s not starting another project. He’s going to take an old colman mini bike we had here and put his 196 build on it. Not sure if he will get it done before school starts, but I will keep everyone updated on his progress along the way…

Landon’s summer engine project #2 is complete minus a few add on accessories. This is an electric start Honda GX390 short block with a Predator 459cc hemi style head. The block for this build was the original block I used when we made the GX390 +.200 stroke billet cranks. I ran it in UAS for several races before building bigger CC big block engines to test the cranks. Again he had to roam my work shop and the entire building to find parts to get it done. He done 99% of the measuring and assembly with me over his shoulder to ensure he was on the right track. We will fire it up in a day or too to see if it runs as good as the 196cc he done a couple weeks ago.

Landon’s first “by himself” engine build, and was built literally out of parts from old tear downs, blow ups or old project builds from the past. He had to start with a block and find useable components to complete the build and assemble it. Not sure if it will run or how well but he completed the project over the last two days. I will also mention the block won two WKA Daytona road races with two different drivers several years back and was the newest and best in shape of the parts he used lol

The first hit is always the most nerve racking because did I tighten this, is that adjusted right and so on. However the first hit was a successful one. We ran an 8.99 on a 8.90 dial right off the trailer. Now time for adjustments 👍
