Generous Hearts
We are a local food pantry that helps to feed our community. We believe that food is a right that everyone needs to have access to. .

I am going to start working on the next batch of folks. If you are on the wait list, keep an eye on your text messages. I promise I will get to everyone. Lots of behind the scenes work goes into making groceries happen.

9.22 Doing Generous Hearts in the rain is fun said no wet person ever. lol I actually love the rain and I enjoyed being out in it. The fun part is keeping the groceries dry. I managed, but it’s not pretty. 😉
Today’s first share is for a family of 2. I put everything together in my garage and then took everything outside and covered it. I forgot to take pics before it was bagged up.
There are 2 cozy lap blankets for each person.

9.22 Today’s share is for a friend of a friend. They started a new job and are waiting for the first paycheck. They have no food and won’t ask for any help, my friend blames it on their friend being a Capricorn. 🙃🤷🏼♀️
This food is winging its way across town as I type this. It is all shelf stable as asked.
I love everything about the love that is shared here. Neighbor helping Neighbor. Friend helping Friend. Feeding people is loving people.

9.18 My neighbors text me before getting in the car and heading to the store to see if I have something they need. They know there is a good chance I will have what they need. These are the same neighbors who share things with me for GH, so I am happy to share from my personal pantry.
Tonight was one of those nights. Scary movie time and no popcorn in the house.
Not really a GH share, but they have helped GH many times, so it kind of sort of is? 🤔🤷🏼♀️

9.18 Today’s share is for a family of 3. Man, do I love saying today’s share…
I also included 3 lap blankets that my friend makes. They are sooo soft. Told the mom about her 3 and she said that was very sweet of my friend. And she is looking forward to using them.
One more family off the wait list, double digits to go.
There will be lots of pictures coming up this next week.

9.17 I am so glad to be back in the saddle again! I have misssed Generous Hearts and have had major guilt for not being able to lend a hand for longer than I anticipated while we recouperated.
Today’s share is a hard one and since they shared their situation with me, it keeps running through my mind. This is a single person living in a shed in someone’s back yard. This person was willing to walk 7 miles round trip for some toilet paper. I told them that I absolutely was not going to allow that to happen. A wonderful friend who helps GH in so many ways made time in her crazy schedule to deliver to them. My friend met them with a handshake and left with multiple hugs. ♥️
They did not need food right now, hygiene items was the huge need. My friend and I pulled what GH had and then we raided our own shelves and we were able to load them up, even putting their things in a brand new wheelie bag my friend gave to them and I had a nice insulated bag to share as well.
My friend made them a large blanket and scarf for the winter days that will be here before we know it. I had a hat that matched colors with the scarf. We shared tp, tissues, bath wipes, hand wipes, shampoo, conditioner, Q-tips, body lotion, some shelf stable foods that are perfect to eat as is and some cookies(who doesn’t like a cookie 😋) paper towels, laundry soap, floss picks, and body spray. We even included a deck of cards and Squishmal (is that the name of them) that they were happy to have and hugged it. Not everything is in the picture as my friend had already packed up some bulky items and I probably forgot to list some items.
Someone shared some dog food with them so my old man dog said he would share his treats and we stuffed a few sandwich bags with goodies.
How this happens in our country, in my/our community, boggles my mind and breaks my heart. I am glad that they have a spot to be and I hope they stay safe.
Howdy Neighbors.
It has been a while since I posted here. Things have been out of kilter at my house.
I had shared that I was starting a waitlist for groceries as I am super low on items to share. A kind neighbor sent some $ and a personal friend sent some $ as well. I was all ready to start on my 4 family waiting list.
Then life happened.
I went in for a scheduled surgery. I thought recovery time would be a snap and taking it easy for a day or so. Nope. It kicked my arse. And I really didn’t get to recouperate because life happened.
My granddog went in and got spayed and was staying with us for 2 weeks as my son and his wife visited family in CA.
Then my husband was hospitalized after I took him to the ER. He was admitted. He was needing major surgery. He panicked and the surgery didn’t happen. We had a conversation and I took him back. They admitted him right away and his surgeon told him that he needs to listen to me as I am a very smart woman and got him back just in time. Serously, just in time. I don’t mean to be vague, it is his story to tell.
This is the 2nd time we have been given a miracle with my husbands health and it took a bit to process and get things lined up for him.
I do believe that I am ready to start on the waiting list that is now about 12 or 14 families.
Groceries are still tight, but with the $$ that was shared with me and some gift cards I was holding onto for emergencies (not a whole lot there, but every bit helps), Generous Hearts will be able to make a dent in that list. In the 17/18 years I have been sharing groceries with our community, it has always worked out that I have enough for everyone and I am counting on that to continue from the Universe.
Thank you for understanding.

6.11 I have a friend who is looking to rehome a toddler seat that can be used at the table and two portable potties. I can give you the number so that you can make arrangements with them to pick up. Pick up will not be at my home. If you are interested, please text me and I will send you the information. I will not check my DM‘s. I will only do text. Thank you very much.
