For years, Lupe Sanchez carried shame about her addiction. Today, she sees her recovery as one of her greatest strengths.

Methadone clinics are often misunderstood.
As a nurse practitioner who prescribes methadone, I’ve seen something very different: people working hard to rebuild their lives, surrounded by staff who genuinely care and want to see them succeed. MAT Saved My Life.
For years, Lupe Sanchez believed nothing could free her from opioid addiction.
After multiple treatment attempts and countless setbacks, methadone became the turning point that allowed her to finally feel stable, function normally, and build a life she never thought was possible.
Medication for opioid use disorder—including Methadone, Suboxone, Sublocade, and Brixadi—has helped millions of people recover, yet these medications continue to face unnecessary stigma.
Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. If you or someone you love is struggling with opioid addiction, don’t let misconceptions keep you from exploring every evidence-based option available.
What are your thoughts on medication-assisted treatment (MAT)? We’d love to hear your perspective in the comments.
