Please join us in congratulating Ruth Cox on accepting an expanded role with New Mexico Rural Water Association!

Ruth has been a valued member of our team, successfully coordinating and managing our conferences, and we are excited that she will now also oversee the EPA Wastewater Finance Program.

Ruth brings decades of leadership, administrative, and financial expertise to NMRWA. She retired from the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico, after an impressive 32-year career. For the last 20 years of her service, she served as Director of Administration, managing all aspects of the Administration Division, including Budget & Finance. Throughout her career, Ruth received both local and national recognition for her exceptional management and supervision.

In addition to her federal service, Ruth has served on Federal Executive Committees, Administrative Officer Working Groups, Mentoring Programs, and as an Administrative Evaluator. She has also dedicated the past 25 years to serving her community as a volunteer Mediator for the Bernalillo County Metro Court.

We are honored to have Ruth continue growing with our organization and look forward to the knowledge, professionalism, and leadership she brings to this important program.

Please help us welcome Jon Sultemeier to NMRWA as our new USDA Wastewater Technician!

Jon is a native New Mexican with more than 30 years of experience in water and wastewater operations. He currently resides in the beautiful community of Eagle Nest in the Enchanted Circle, surrounded by the breathtaking Sangre de Cristo Mountains and all the natural beauty Northern New Mexico has to offer.

Jon is honored to serve New Mexico’s communities by sharing the skills, knowledge, and experience he has gained throughout his career. We are excited to have him as part of the NMRWA team and look forward to the expertise and dedication he brings to our members across the state.

Please help us welcome Monique Duran, our new Apprenticeship Coordinator!

Monique brings 11 years of leadership experience in manufacturing and operations, with a strong background in workforce development, safety, quality, and continuous improvement. She has successfully led teams in highly regulated production environments and is passionate about helping others grow, develop, and succeed. We are excited to have her knowledge, leadership, and dedication as part of our organization and look forward to the impact she will make in this new role!

Please help us welcome John Rector to the team as our new NMRWA Circuit Rider!

John brings more than 45 years of experience in water systems, having worked in the industry since he was 16 years old. He also proudly retired from New Mexico State Parks after a dedicated career of service.

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, riding 4-wheelers, gardening, and working on vehicles. He also enjoys shooting sports, reloading ammo, and collecting old records. His lifelong hands-on experience, strong work ethic, and passion for rural communities make him a great addition to the NMRWA team.

We are excited to have John on board and look forward to the knowledge and support he will bring to our members across New Mexico.
