Curiosity makes a splash at Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, as Discovery Stations fill the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden and Aquarium. Step into the Aquarium to learn about sharks, mollusks, and otters, and get up close to some of the most recognizable aquatic animals.

Celebrate the magic of autumn with Camp BioPark at the Heritage Farm! Our Education team is proud to announce a brand new one-day fall camp on Wednesday, November 11, from 8:45 am to 3:45 pm.

What's Blooming? Wednesdays 🌼

Meet the Rose of Sharon: With over 400 species in the genus Hibiscus, there is a wide variety of colors and flower shapes, including the double-flowering cultivar of the rose of Sharon named ‘Lucy’ that’s currently putting on a show behind the C***r Barn at the Heritage Farm! This deciduous shrub resembles a small tree, capable of reaching around 13 feet tall. Despite the scientific species name implying they come from Syria, Hibiscus syriacus is also known as Korean rose and was originally only endemic to Korea and is the national flower of South Korea. It was brought to Japan in the 8th century and introduced in many other places since then, including North America. This species can thrive in urban conditions and poorer soils and though individual flowers are short lived, they produce new blooms continuously to provide a pop of color and food for pollinators into fall when other flowers have waned. Taste the Season!

Fall flavors are showing up in a big way at the Harvest Festival at the Botanic Garden and Aquarium, happening Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4 from 9 am to 5 pm daily. Food stands scattered through the gardens will be dishing out specialty menu items to satisfy all appetites, including fry bread tacos, BBQ brisket sandwiches, loaded baked potatoes, elote, ribbon fries, pumpkin pie sopapillas, fresh fruit cups, apple c***r, and more.

The journey to a new Dreamland has begun! After closing to the public on September 8, today we held the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Children's Fantasy Garden renovation.

This transformation, shaped by Albuquerque families through a year-long community input campaign, will encourage children to explore the mythical world of the Garden's beloved dragon. At their own pace, the next generation will travel the Rainbow Path to find new and accessible pathways to interactive sculptures that engage all of the senses through play as you learn the story of the dragon and his treasure, connecting with nature along the way! Refreshed iconic elements like the castle, and the dragon himself, will remain while the giant pumpkin will morph into a beautiful walk-in Crystal Geode with light dancing on the dazzling faceted walls, offering a place to rest or reflect before the adventure continues.

After 25 years of magic, one wondrous chapter for the Children's Fantasy Garden has closed. Thanks in part to the 1/8-cent gross receipts tax approved by you, we continue to improve your ABQ BioPark and the next chapter is just beginning.
