This has been a big month for family sessions, and every one of them has come with a backdrop worth showing off. This multi-generational family shoot is a good example — shot right here in Albuquerque, but with the right location and a long lens, the cottonwoods and green give it a feel you wouldn't expect from the high desert.

That's one of my favorite parts of being an Albuquerque family photographer: knowing the spots.

This Old Town session gave my client a set of natural, relaxed portraits for his Instagram and dating profile, shot in a real setting with great light instead of a stiff studio backdrop.

The question I was trying to answer: would the ground glow under UV light out there?

Short answer: YES. Absolutely yes.

The rocky trail lit up in this wild electric blue under the black light, and with a sky full of stars overhead and tree silhouettes cutting into that deep purple horizon… I honestly just stood there for a minute taking it all in before I even touched my camera.

There's something surreal about a place you've probably driven past a hundred times suddenly looking like another planet. New Mexico never stops surprising me. 🔵🌠

Next time I go out there I'll try to light up the canyon better, this is just with my phone light. As someone without much astrophotography experience though I really enjoyed the process.

A fun weekend including fire bagpipers Celtica Nova at the New Mexico Renaissance Fair.

The drive time to reward ratio is pretty good if you live in Albuquerque. The White Ridge trails is such a cool area. I am still planning to go there on a clear night to capture some galaxy photos.

The Daffodils and Rosemary are the first to flower in our Albuquerque neighborhood.
