Twenty-seven Ranch

I thought it odd the birds had been scarce at the feeder. Now I see why……look sitting in the shade.

Walk out with the coffee this morning and the garden has already made the announcement without you.

The asters and the goldenrod are wide open along the fence. There are three tomatoes left on the vine and they are taking their time about it. The maple by the drive has dropped its first handful of leaves onto the lawn, the ones that always go first, the ones you leave where they fall.

Here is the quiet part. The plants have been reading the lengthening nights since August, setting buds, pulling sugar down into the roots, hardening off while nobody watched. The first day of fall is not the day the garden turns. It is the day we catch up to it.

So take the long way around the beds today. Everything out there is right on schedule.

Can it be! Rain! Yep……it actually made it here.

My goodness! If you’re not outside enjoying this weather change, you’re missing out on a great outside day!

This might just be the week to finish the path at the back of the house. I think temps are going to be much better. Still haven’t figured a border idea yet though. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂

No work to do in the garden this morning and only a few spots to water. I actually hung up the water hose. 😂😂😂

These two were ready for breakfast this morning. RG’s Gator feed station is working. Of course, Jasper sleeps in the locked barn and that might be why this works……..so, wonder what the plan is for winter feeding. 😂

Look at that!!! Actual moisture dripping off the roof! Everything was wet outside this morning.
