Dr. Reece again. I saw a question in a new practitioner's group asking for help to make sure they were meeting the requirements for proving medical necessity in their notes, now that they are going to accept insurance. 80% of the replies were 'following' and another 10% recommended chatGPT (PLEASE DON'T!). Hi Folks,
It's Dr. Reece. I was just talking to a recruiter who had some questions about how to find the information for screening Psychologists for education and licensure requirements. He knew how to do background checks, but was unaware of how to check for the details. I sent him an email with links and I thought this little package of quick review might be useful for new practitioners.
Here is how to get the information:
State Licenses: (Google Psychology License Lookup /State/)
State of Texas License: https://bhec.texas.gov/verify-a-license/
State of California License: https://search.dca.ca.gov/
State of Virginia License: https://dhp.virginiainteractive.org/Lookup/Index
National Information:
National Practitioner Data Bank Self Inquiry: (This costs providers $3.00 and it lists all of their information.)

CAQH: All Providers have a special number like a social Security number - Also called an NPI (National Provider Identifier) where all of their history is stored. This is what Insurance Companies use to decide whether or not to credential a provider.
