Lifelong Alton resident David Goins is Mayor of the City of Alton. If you would like to support his I promise to lead with integrity, honesty and respect.

Goins’ campaign is focusing on rebuilding Alton’s reputation as a safe, clean and vibrant city. Alton’s population declined to approximately 26,500 residents, endangering its home rule status, which requires a city to maintain over 25,000 residents to preserve its constitutional authority to self-govern in matters such as sales taxes and solving local issues. 💙 Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Today, we honor the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, and father figures whose love, sacrifice, wisdom, and faith help shape our families and strengthen our community.

As Scripture reminds us, “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” — Proverbs 20:7

May God richly bless every father today with His peace, strength, and favor. Thank you for leading with love, serving with humility, and leaving a legacy that will impact generations to come.

Happy Father’s Day!

🙏🏾☀️ What a powerful way to begin a fully scheduled Juneteenth day…it was started with prayer🙏🏽

Congratulations to Rosetta “Rosie” Brown on hosting an inspiring Interfaith Praise & Prayer Breakfast at Monroe Memorial Church. There could not have been a better way to begin Juneteenth than by coming together in prayer, unity, and gratitude. ❤️🙌🏾

Mayor David Goins was honored to join an outstanding roster of clergy and community leaders in praying for our federal, state, and local governments. First Lady Sheila Goins also made a special appearance, sharing words of encouragement and offering a heartfelt prayer at the request of the organizers. 🙏🏾

Special congratulations to Alton Section NAACP President Leon Smallwood-Bey for his dynamic keynote address, which concluded with a well-deserved standing ovation. 👏🏾

Congratulations again, Rosie, on a beautiful and successful event that truly reflected the spirit of Juneteenth.

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray… then I will hear from heaven and heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14 📖❤️

Happy Juneteenth, City of Alton! ❤️💚🖤🍋✨

Mayor David Goins could not pass up the opportunity to support a few of Alton’s rising young entrepreneurs this afternoon!

While out and about in the community, the Mayor met Caiden and Andrew, two hardworking young men proudly serving up refreshing treats at their very own lemonade and fruit punch stands. Andrew was sharing ice-cold lemonade, while Caiden was serving a delicious homemade punch—both bringing energy, smiles, and business spirit to the city of Alton!

Mayor Goins applauds these young entrepreneurs for taking initiative, showing creativity, and learning the value of hard work at such an early age. This is what Juneteenth represents at its heart—freedom, opportunity, ownership, and community support in action.

If you see Caiden and Andrew out and about, be sure to stop by, show some love, and support their businesses!

This is what freedom looks like. This is what community looks like. 💫

Happy Juneteenth, Alton!❤️🖤💚💛

What a joyful afternoon in the City of Alton! ❤️🍖✨

In the true spirit of Juneteenth—a celebration of freedom, unity, and the strength of community—Mayor David Goins and First Lady Sheila Goins were honored to spend time with neighbors at 5th and Vine for a lively neighborhood BBQ cook-off.

Mayor Goins gladly accepted the invitation to serve as judge and was warmly welcomed by residents with a handmade sign that reflected the pride and spirit of the block. From the very start, it was clear this was more than a cook-off—it was a celebration of togetherness.

After sampling some truly amazing dishes, Mayor Goins had the pleasure of naming Melissa and Jessica, two talented sisters, as the winners for their outstanding pulled pork!

The afternoon was filled with laughter, fellowship, and neighborhood pride—an uplifting reminder that Juneteenth lives on not only in remembrance, but in moments like these where community comes together in love, respect, and joy.

A heartfelt thank you to the residents of 5th and Vine for the warm hospitality and for making this celebration so special.

Congratulations again to Melissa and Jessica! 🏆🔥❤️💚💛

❤️🖤💚 Honoring Juneteenth ❤️🖤💚

Today, Mayor David Goins joins countless Americans in honoring Juneteenth—the day that commemorates June 19, 1865, when more than 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued.

Juneteenth is not only a celebration of freedom—it is a reminder of the perseverance of those who came before us. Their courage and sacrifice paved the way for generations to dream, achieve, serve, and lead.

Today, Mayor Goins encourages our community to pause, reflect, and honor the legacy of our ancestors by continuing to build bridges of understanding, extending grace to one another, and working together to create a future where freedom, opportunity, and respect are shared by all.

May we never forget the sacrifices of the past, and may we always move forward with faith, hope, unity, and love.

Happy Juneteenth! ❤️🖤💚🕊️🇺🇸

Yesterday, Mayor David Goins was delighted to receive a special drop-in visit from Garrison Jones, winner of the Chief for a Day experience through the Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation fundraiser!

Garrison had the opportunity to walk a day in the shoes of Alton Police Chief Jarrett Ford, touring the Police Department, exploring police vehicles and equipment, observing demonstrations by the K-9 Unit and Drone Team, and visiting the Alton Fire Department to learn more about their daily operations.

Thank you to Chief Ford and the Tyler Timmins Memorial Foundation for helping create meaningful experiences that inspire our youth and showcase the value of public service. A hardy thanks also to Garrison’s parents! The future is bright with young leaders like Chief Garrison Jones! 👮‍♂️🚓🚒🏛️💙
