Ever feel like your mind is stuck replaying the same conversation, mistake, or worry over and over? That cycle is called rumination, and unlike healthy reflection, it can keep you focused on negative thoughts without helping you find a solution. Over time, frequent rumination can contribute to stress, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and shame.

To help break the cycle, try bringing your attention back to the present, doing an activity that engages your mind or body, challenging negative thoughts, or writing down what’s on your mind and setting it aside.

If repetitive negative thoughts are interfering with your daily life, you don’t have to work through them alone. Call BSA Behavioral Health at 806-350-7601 to learn more about how we can help.

Dependence and addiction are not the same, even though the terms are often used interchangeably. Dependence occurs when the body adapts to a substance and may experience withdrawal when it is stopped. Addiction involves compulsive substance use and difficulty stopping, even when it negatively affects your health or daily life. If substance use is becoming difficult to manage, support is available. Call 806-350-7601 to schedule an appointment.

Sometimes, taking care of your mental health means giving yourself permission to rest.

If you’re feeling more irritable than usual, constantly anxious, exhausted, unmotivated, or having trouble focusing, it may be a sign that you need time to recharge. A mental health day can give you space to step away from major stressors and focus on what helps you feel grounded, whether that means resting, spending time outside, connecting with someone you care about, or simply slowing down.

But if a day or two of rest doesn’t help and those feelings continue, it may be time to reach out for additional support.

Ever feel like one small inconvenience is enough to send you over the edge? You might be experiencing what social media calls a “crash out.”

Crashing out happens when built-up stress, frustration, or other difficult emotions boil over into an intense reaction. Increased irritability, emotional outbursts, racing thoughts, impulsive decisions, and anxiety can all be signs that you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Recognizing your triggers, taking a break when stress starts building, getting enough sleep, and finding healthy ways to cope can help you manage those emotions before they reach a breaking point. If you’re frequently feeling overwhelmed or your reactions are affecting your daily life, BSA Behavioral Health is here to help.
