Take a look at this senior living design brought to life through architectural visualization. This exterior video rendering shows how design elements come together to shape the character and experience of a senior living community. The exterior does more than create a first impression. Thoughtful architecture can create a welcoming sense of arrival, connect residents to outdoor spaces, and bring a comfortable, residential character to a larger community. Through scale, materiality, landscaping, and architectural details, KMA designs senior living environments that feel inviting and connected. From master planning and architecture to interior design, we consider the complete resident experience and how each element works together to create a place that feels like home.
3D modeling allows our team to explore a space long before construction begins, studying scale, layout, circulation, architectural details, and the overall resident experience. Renderings take that process a step further, bringing materiality, lighting, furnishings, and atmosphere into the picture. For senior living communities, this visualization process helps us thoughtfully shape environments that feel welcoming, comfortable, and connected from residences and dining to social, wellness, and amenity spaces. With decades of senior living experience, KMA brings together architecture, planning, and interior design to create communities designed around the way people live.
Nature was thoughtfully woven into the building design at Woodward Lofts by KMA. šæAs construction advances at Woodward Lofts in Harrisburg, the buildingās innovative mass timber system isĀ an integral part of the interior design. Exposed cross-laminated timber brings the natural warmth and character of wood into the building, supporting a biophilic design approach that creates welcoming, residential spaces.
Ā
Biophilic design strengthens the connection between people and nature in the built environment through elements such as natural materials, textures, light, and views of the outdoors. At Woodward Lofts, exposed mass timber makes that connection part of the architecture itself, bringing the warmth and texture of natural wood throughout the interior.
Ā
By making the structure part of the finished interior, the design reduces the need for additional finishes while celebrating the beauty of the buildingās mass timber system. From exposed wood ceilings and structural elements to natural textures and warm finishes, each detail works together to create a comfortable, connected, and thoughtfully designed environment.

Evan Wolford is an Architect at KMA Design Studio and is celebrating five years with the firm. A Virginia Tech graduate with a Bachelor of Architecture, Evan has six years ofĀ architecture experienceĀ and works on both new construction and renovation projects, developing drawing sets in Revit, researching codes and products, and supporting projects from feasibility and schematic design through construction documentation. As his expertise has grown, Evan has also begun mentoring new staff as they learn KMAās standards. One project that stands out to Evan is Zeropak Wi******er, a unique and challenging project that brought together historic preservation, existing building conditions, complex construction practices, and numerous stakeholders. Evan especially enjoys the fast-paced nature of schematic design and the challenge of finding the best solution among many possibilities. Whether navigating an ADA unit conversion or determining a buildingās orientation on a site, he enjoys putting the puzzle together. Congratulations on five years, Evan!

Progress is taking shape at Winn Atlantic City! šļø
Our CA team recently visited the Winn Atlantic City site to review construction progress across the community. Work includes new siding and exterior improvements, along with flooring, cabinetry, mechanical upgrades, and interior finishes. Some renovated units are nearing completion, while work continues in other buildings and outdoor areas. Itās rewarding to see the property transform one unit at a time.

Sometimes a building gets to tell more than one story.
Ā
On September 12, as St. Joseph Parish celebrated its 50th anniversary, we had the privilege of welcoming former St. Joseph School students back into the building they once knew as their elementary school.
Ā
KMA renovated the former school in 2015, adaptively reusing the existing building to create our Ambler offices. The transformation gave the building a new purpose while preserving pieces of its history and character. This weekend, those connections came full circle as nearly 60 former students and parishioners visited our office, walked the halls, shared memories, and found the spaces they remembered from their school days.
Ā
Adaptive reuse allows buildings to evolve while honoring the stories already embedded within them, and it was especially meaningful to see that history come alive again. Congratulations to St. Joseph Parish on 50 years and welcome back, St. Joseph alumni!

Our Housing Studio came together for a little friendly competition with a round of Quizzo. From housing and construction knowledge to general trivia, teams worked together to see who could come out on top. It was a fun opportunity to put their knowledge and teamwork to the test.
Listen closely. Collaborate openly. Execute with care.Ā
Ā
Thatās how we put Knowledge. Method. Action. into practice.Ā
Ā
For nearly five decades, KMA has built its reputation on understanding the challenge, working together to find the right solution, and following through with thoughtful design.Ā
Ā
The graphic may be new, but the philosophy behind it has been part of KMA from the start.

Nicholas Robinson, a Designer II at KMA Design Studio, is celebrating 10 years with the firm! As a member of KMAās production team, Nick specializes in Revit modeling, drafting, and 3D renderings. Following site surveys, he uses field measurements, photographs, and existing documentation to create detailed digital models and prepare projects for schematic design and construction documentation.
Ā
One of Nickās favorite projects is the interior and exterior renovation work at Brittany Pointe Estates. Managing numerous design options and renderings within a single Revit model challenged him to expand his technical skills, including creating fully parametric Revit families. Nick especially enjoys studying existing buildings and piecing together old floor plans, wall sections, and intricate details to understand how each space was originally constructed. He then translates that information into accurate digital models that help move projects forward. Over the past decade, Nickās technical expertise, attention to detail, and dedication have made him a valuable member of KMA. Congratulations on 10 years, Nick! We are lucky to have you on the team.
