It started with four Executive Pastors in one room.
They had never met. But as they began talking about the realities of ministry, they discovered something every leader needs to know:
You don’t have to carry leadership alone.
One conversation became another.
Relationships formed.
And five years later, what began on a college campus has grown into XP Gathering.
The rooms have gotten bigger, but the reason for the room hasn’t changed.
Real leaders. Real conversations. Real relationships.
Because sometimes the most important thing a leader can hear is:
“Wait… you deal with this too?”
Five years later, we’re still creating spaces where ministry leaders can be known, encouraged, resourced, and reminded they were never meant to lead alone.
And we’re just getting started.
Today’s Coffee Break with Andrew Statezny reminded us of the power of a clear ask.
When inviting someone into a ministry or project, be specific, honest, and upfront about the conversation. Give them a heads-up, clearly share the opportunity, and don’t let fear of rejection hold you back.
People appreciate transparency and the chance to prayerfully consider being part of something meaningful.
Don’t be afraid to ask!

OC GATHERING 🙌
Such a great day gathering with pastors and ministry leaders from across Orange County.
There’s something powerful about getting in the same room, building real relationships, learning from one another, and being reminded that none of us are called to do ministry alone.
Grateful for every pastor and leader who showed up today, shared honestly, encouraged one another, and continues to faithfully serve the local church.
We’re better together. Excited for what God is doing throughout Orange County and what’s ahead!
People may be more open to the gospel than ever but that doesn’t mean they’re ready to walk through the doors of a church.
During our latest XP Gathering Coffee Break, Marc Estes from Visitor Reach shared why it can take 12–15 meaningful connection points before someone visits. Those moments aren’t always about promoting programs or events. They’re about helping people feel seen, heard, and valued, sometimes beginning with a simple request for prayer.
The culture is shifting.

Pastors and ministry leaders, join us for the next XP Gathering Orange County Luncheon on Wednesday, August 26 at 11:30 AM at Knott Ave Christian Church.
This isn’t just another luncheon. It’s a space to connect with other leaders, have honest conversations about ministry, learn from one another, and leave with practical tools you can take back to your church.
This month, we’ll be joined by Galen Thomas as we talk about Building Radical Alignment around the Great Commission and how we move from simply doing ministry to equipping and commissioning others to do the work of ministry.
