Have you ever encountered the Brooks Range largest weasel?
Today we are highlighting wolverines, the largest animal in the weasel family that lives in the Brooks Range. These animals are hunters and scavengers, and need large areas to roam in order to feed themselves.
This species is often overlooked when discussing the impacts of development on the Arctic and the Brooks Range, but their home and habitat would be fragmented by the Ambler Road. Any damage done to the area means an imbalance in the animals lives as well as peoples. Follow us to learn more about what is happening in the Brooks Range, and how your advocacy can make a difference.

Many of these photos were captured in what is now the Gates of the Arctic National Park, long before the area was officially designated as such in 1981. The Brooks Range area has been occupied since before recorded history, and people have been using the area for their livelihood, recreation, and homelands for centuries. The Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic National Park should remain how they are today for future generations to use.
The proposed industrial Ambler Road would bring devastation to the land, communities, fish and wildlife, and climate of the Brooks Range area- and the Trump administration wants to fund the project that has faced widespread opposition across Alaska and across America. The Brooks Range, and the people who have inhabited it for time immemorial, need to be left as is for future generations. Follow us to learn more.

This investment does not mean that the proposed Ambler Road will be built, or that mining is guaranteed to happen in the Brooks Range—but it is notable that this investment was made. We will keep our audience posted on what is coming next. Thank you for your continued support, and please share and follow this page.

It's National Dog Day! Today we’re celebrating the sled dogs who have carried people, supplies, stories, and traditions across the Arctic for generations. Sled dogs are more than adventure partners. They’re part of the fabric of life in the North—supporting connection to the land, subsistence, culture and community. Protecting the Brooks Range means protecting one of the last great landscapes where Arctic life—dogs and people alike—can continue to move freely and without roads.

In honor of 110 years of National Parks, enjoy these photos of the Brooks Range and the Gates of the Arctic National Park courtesy of Maxwell Plichta. This beautiful area is worth saving so that everyone can experience it's beauty. Industrializing it, building roads through it, mining, and allowing more and more people to move in would take away from the abundance and natural wonder.
If you have photos of Gates of the Arctic National Park or the Brooks Range area you would like highlighted on our page, reach out!
