🎉 Happy 11-year work anniversary to Melina Motznik Burt, our Administrative Management Lead!

Over the years, Melina has built an incredible amount of knowledge about ASCI and has played a key role in keeping so many things moving behind the scenes. From office management, recruiting and onboarding to benefits, employee support, and coordinating across teams, locations, vendors, and service providers, Melina is often the person helping solve the problem, find the answer, and keep things on track.

Her curiosity and love of learning show up in her work every day, whether she is tackling a new challenge, digging into the details, or researching something just a little more than necessary. 😊

Outside of work, Melina enjoys gaming and creative projects, which feels fitting for someone who is always thinking, learning, and finding new ways to approach things.

Thank you, Melina, for 11 years of dedication, adaptability, and support for our team. We’re grateful for everything you do! 💙

Today marks the anniversary of September 11, a day that forever changed our nation. We remember the lives lost, the heroes who emerged, and the resilience that united us in the face of unimaginable tragedy. As we honor their memory, we also recognize the strength and resolve that continues to shape our communities.

Let us take a moment to reflect on the importance of compassion, unity, and the enduring spirit of service that was exemplified on this day. Whether through small acts of kindness or large-scale efforts, we can continue to honor those who were affected by working towards a better, more connected world.

Will AI Replace Supply Chain Jobs? What Automation Can and Cannot Do 08/31/2026

AI is coming for supply chain jobs.

At least, that is the fear.

The reality is a little more complicated.

AI can absolutely take over parts of the job. It can review hundreds of purchase orders, flag late shipments, identify inventory shortages, recommend replenishment, and help prioritize what needs attention first.

But when a critical part is late, the wrong material shows up, inventory does not match the system, or Engineering changes a specification after the order is placed, someone still has to figure out what to do next.

That is where experience matters.

In our latest blog, we look at what AI can realistically automate, what it still cannot replace, and how roles in expediting, inventory, warehousing, and other supply chain functions may change as the technology gets better.

Will AI replace supply chain jobs? Some tasks, probably. The people who know how to solve problems when the system does not have the answer are a different story.

Will AI Replace Supply Chain Jobs? What Automation Can and Cannot Do AI is changing how supply chain work gets done, but can it replace the people behind it? Explore where automation can improve efficiency and where human experience, judgment, and problem-solving still matter.

Happy birthday to Marine Forces Reserve! Since 1916, the Marine Forces Reserve expanded from just 35 to today's roughly 40,000 reservists. The Marine Forces Reserve is tasked with the mission of augmenting and reinforcing active duty Marine forces during a war or open hostilities, national emergencies, and contingency operations. The Marine Corps Reserve also relieves active duty forces in peacetime missions and offers service to the community.

We appreciate your dedicated service at home and abroad!

Great couple of days at the 2026 Alaska Oil and Gas Association (AOGA) Conference!

ASCI’s Rosita Nadezhdina Johnson got to catch up with familiar faces and connect with Alaska’s energy companies, service providers, suppliers, and local businesses.

It was exciting to hear updates on projects from Hilcorp Alaska, ConocoPhillips, Santos, Apache Corp Alaska, HEX, Marathon Petroleum and others, along with conversations about Alaska’s energy future and what it will take to keep projects moving forward.

A special congratulations to Santos on the Pikka Project being named Project of the Year. ASCI is proud to be part of that journey and excited to see what is ahead.

And congratulations to ConocoPhillips Chairman and CEO Ryan Lance on his induction into the Alaska Oil & Gas Historical Society Hall of Fame. A well-deserved recognition of his impact on Alaska’s energy industry.

Congratulations to AOGA on 10 years of bringing Alaska’s energy community together!

This week brought a pretty incredible sight at Fleet Readiness Center East.

We had the chance to capture some awesome photos of an AV-8B Harrier towing evolution as the aircraft made its way from FRCE to the Havelock Tourist & Event Center, where it will be featured as a static display.

Seeing an aircraft like this up close and watching the move come together was definitely one of those moments worth capturing. We are proud to support the work happening at FRCE and even more excited to share a few of the photos from the evolution.

Take a look. This is not something you get to see every day.

Another great Navy Gold Coast in the books!

There were some really good sessions and speakers this year, including updates from the SBA, the LYNX session, the Founders Panel on Advanced Manufacturing and Contested Logistics, and the NAVSUP discussion on constrained supply chains and upcoming opportunities. Lots of useful information for small businesses working in the federal and defense space.

One of the highlights - catching up with Dan Mahan, who has been a strong proponent and advocate for small businesses. Somehow, every time we run into each other at a conference, we end up taking a photo together, so of course we had to keep the tradition going! Dan, we hope we see you in Alaska soon!

I also had some great matchmaking sessions with D3 Technologies and EPA. These one-on-one conversations are always valuable and give us an opportunity to learn more about upcoming needs and where our capabilities may be a good fit.

And, of course, one of the best parts of Gold Coast is spending time with potential partners, making new connections, catching up with familiar faces, and talking about ways we can work together.

Heading home with new information, new connections, and plenty of follow-up to do. That is a sign of a conference well spent!
