It looks like we are in for some more overnight stormy weather. Nothing is looking too threatening or severe, other than the one cell that’s right outside of Madison County now and under a warning.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northeastern Madison County in central Indiana... Northwestern Delaware County in east central Indiana...
* Until 100 AM EDT.
* At 1156 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Swayzee, or near Fairmount, moving southeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include... Alexandria, Yorktown, Chesterfield, Eaton, Daleville, Summitville, Gaston, and Orestes.
This includes Interstate 69 between mile markers 234 and 252.
To put today’s rain into perspective:
In our area, in the month of August, we average about 3.2 inches of rain.
Today, we received between 4-6 inches of rain across our county. We essentially DOUBLED our monthly rain in a single 24 hour period.

Take these Flood warnings/watches/advisories seriously. Based on the radar estimations, eastern Madison County has received between 5-6 inches of rain.
If you are out driving and come upon a water covered road, DO NOT attempt to cross it. There are a lot to of factors that can come into play you may not be able to see. Turn around, don’t drown!

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Central and northern Indiana
* Effective this Wednesday morning and afternoon from 1035 AM until 400 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include... Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...An ongoing cluster of storms will spread east-southeastward across northern and central Indiana through the afternoon, with the potential for occasional severe outflow gusts of 60-75 mph and isolated large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles east and west of a line from 70 miles north northeast of Lafayette IN to 35 miles south of Indianapolis IN. For a complete depiction of the watch see the associated watch outline update (WOUS64 KWNS WOU5).

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

There’s another line of severe level storms about an hour away from us. This line is showing the potential to create winds up to 60 mph and up to quarter-sized hail.

* At 125 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Kokomo to 11 miles northeast of Frankfort to 9 miles east of Lafayette, moving southeast at 55 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
* Locations impacted include... Anderson, Frankfort, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Lebanon, Zionsville, Elwood, Alexandria, Tipton, Windfall, Westfield, Cicero, Pendleton, Fortville, Whitestown, Sheridan, Chesterfield, Ingalls, and Lapel.
