Madison County Hand-up Initiative

Tragically, another young life lost to gun violence- at only seventeen years old. A senior in high school with his entire life still in front of him, robbed of his future. Another family broken, and a community crushed.

Our hearts goes out to Chris Wilson’s family, friends, teammates, classmates, and the entire Yorktown community as they deal with a loss that should never have happened.

We can never accept violence like this as normal!

Communities must decide that enough is enough! We have to be willing to show up, speak up, mentor our young people, hold one another accountable, and work together to reduce violent crime.

This Wednesday evening there will be a Community Call-Out at 1710 S. Madison St. in Muncie. I encourage everyone to stand up for our young people to come out and be part of the conversation.

Gun violence is not just someone else’s problem. Muncie is our neighbor. Yorktown is our neighbor. These are our kids, our families, and our communities.

Let’s show up and support our neighbors!
