3 p.m. update: Flash flood warning extended to 9 p.m. Saturday in Madison County The National Weather Service's flood warning for Madison County has been extended to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The Anderson Fire Department, with help from the Indiana National Guard, conducted about 25 water rescues Thursday and Friday, according to Chief Dave Cravens. East Madison and South Madison fire territories also assisted with some of the rescues.

Anderson firefighters have conducted about two dozen boat rescues during flood Usually, the fire department uses water to fight fires. But, in Anderson, during the recent flood, firefighters have been fighting against water.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis issued the warning, noting that thunderstorms had dumped as much as 2 inches of new rainfall on the area Saturday morning.
