We would like to thank Bridges by EPOCH at Andover for taking the time to train our four units over the last week.

The staff and our firefighters reviewed strategies for responding to emergencies involving people with dementia.

Working Fire - 1 Burtt Road - Pfizer

At 1601 this afternoon, Andover Fire Rescue responded to 1 Burtt Road, Pfizer, for an odor of smoke in the building. On arrival, smoke was showing from the roof of a commercial building.

Our firefighters initiated an aggressive attack, stretching hose lines to both the exterior and interior of the building. The fire was knocked down quickly. Due to the actions of our firefighters, the fire did not extend to any other parts of the building. There were no injuries to report.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. We are proud to serve the Town of Andover.

The Working Fire has been transmitted for 1 Burtt Road - Pfizer. Firefighters are on the scene of a rooftop fire in a commercial building.

Unit 2 is on duty.

During last night's Select Board meeting, Town Manager Andrew Flanagan introduced newly appointed members of Andover Fire Rescue's leadership team.

Keith Weightman was introduced as the Department's Assistant Chief, a newly created position that will serve as second in command to the Fire Chief. Weightman has served as Deputy Chief since 2010 and joined Andover Fire Rescue in 1998. Brian Wright and Tom Kennedy were introduced as Deputy Fire Chiefs. Wright joined the Department in 1999 and has served as a Lieutenant since 2014. Kennedy joined Andover Fire Rescue in 2012 and has served as a Lieutenant since 2017.

The Town of Andover congratulates Assistant Chief Weightman, Deputy Chief Wright, and Deputy Chief Kennedy and thanks them for their commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of the Andover community.

On this 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, Andover Fire Rescue remembers and honors all those who lost their lives that day, including the 343 members of the FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We will never forget.
