Deadline approaching!
The Town of Andover has begun the process of updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan and is inviting residents, visitors, and other members of the community to participate in a survey that will help establish priorities for the future of open space and recreation in Andover.
The survey asks how people use and value local conservation land, parks, trails, athletic fields, and other recreational resources, and where they would like to see future investments and improvements. It should take about five minutes to complete.

Sounds like fun!
Andover Conservation will host a game of Native Species Bingo at Al Retelle Conservation Area on Tuesday, July 21, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Members of the community are invited to join Conservation staff for a fun, family-friendly opportunity to learn about native plants and the Town’s ongoing work to remove invasive species and support healthy habitat.
Participants will search for native species throughout the conservation area while learning more about the important role they play in Andover’s natural environment.

They are at it again in relentless pursuit of a free flowing Shawsheen River, navigable and safe for paddlers. The almost 10 year old blockage on the east side of the island near the outlet from the canal dug to Pomps Pond has been opened. Enjoy paddling from Dale St to Central St without a portage.
Thanks to the River Keeper, Ken Doran and special recruit Alex Taylor

Thanks to heroic work by the Shawsheen River Keeper, aka Ken Doran, and a fabulous crew of volunteers, including Alex Taylor, Ralph Mason, Mark and Scott Kaluzny and Steve Golden, 4 trees blocking passage on the Shawsheen River were removed yesterday.
The section of River between Central Street and Dale Street is now free flowing and safer for paddlers. Hope you can get out soon and enjoy one of the best paddling experiences in the region.

Family Paddle on the Shawsheen River -6/7 CANCELLED due to challenging weather
Unfortunately our Spring weather is very chaotic this year and the conditions forecast for Sunday will not be conducive for this fun family friendly event. We are sorry to disappoint all those that registered as well as those on the wait list. Andover Trails working with the Andover Recreation Department made the decision in order to keep the experience of paddling on the Shawsheen safe and fun for all participants. We hope to reschedule in the Fall and sign up for our newsletter for information about other programs.
The Shawsheen River is one of Andover's great recreation and natural resource assets and encourage everyone to experience it.
