See message below from Wichita.
NOTE:
Andover residents are NOT wholesale customers, we get our water directly from Wichita, so we are in the clear. Andover customers are the same as Wichita. The City of Andover does not hold nor treat water. Therefore, our testing is the same as Wichita's.
NEXT STEPS:
Although no contamination was found, Wichita water customers are encouraged to turn on the cold water tap at all faucets and run the water until they feel a change in temperature (i.e. the water gets noticeably colder). This will help remove air trapped in the pipes and clear out stagnant water.
The boil water advisory for the City of Wichita has been rescinded.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded the boil water advisory for the City of Wichita after all 195 water test results came back clear and free of contamination. Wichita water has remained safe for normal use and consumption.
The advisory was issued early Wednesday morning after a loss of pressure in the water system. The pressure loss followed a power outage caused by the failure of generators that were being used during Tuesday night’s storm.
Water samples were collected from testing locations throughout the system Wednesday. Following the required 24-hour incubation period for bacteria testing, City staff and KDHE reviewed the results Thursday afternoon. Testing found no evidence of bacteria, and KDHE determined that other conditions that could have placed the system at risk of contamination had been resolved.
Based on the results, KDHE confirmed there was no presence of bacteria in the City’s system and released a notice stating that the boil water advisory had been rescinded.
Wholesale water utilities that use Wichita water should contact their municipality for guidance on their boil advisories.
The City collected samples near the point of connection for wholesale customers, but per regulation, they are responsible to do the same for their respective systems.
Customers in those areas should continue following their local boil water guidance until notified otherwise.
The City is also continuing to investigate the cause of the generator power failure and will review procedures intended to prevent a similar multi-failure power outage in the future.

UPDATE FROM THE CITY OF WICHITA:
⚠️ Water boil Update - Sept. 17, 3 p.m. ⚠️
As of 3 p.m. this afternoon, 40 water sample tests are complete and are being reviewed by KDHE. Final test results will be available around 5:30 p.m., at which time KDHE will do their final review and decide on whether to rescind or continue the boil advisory.
As a reminder, 195 water test stations were sampled yesterday. Tests must be incubated for 24 hours to ensure no contamination. Yesterday, batches of test water were collected at different times throughout the afternoon as staff traveled to each testing station. This means that final test results are available at different times this afternoon.
KDHE is coordinating with staff and will have a final meeting at 5:30 p.m. to go over all results.
The City will be able to provide further updates at that time. As a reminder, updates, FAQs and further information are available at Wichita.gov/alert.

Recent observed precipitation data shows parts of Butler County remain well below normal for rainfall.
Even where some rain has fallen, dry vegetation can still ignite quickly and fences don’t stop wildfire. A small spark can spread fast across grass, fields, road ditches, and property lines.
Please use extra caution outdoors:
• Use extra caution when grilling or doing any spark or flame producing work outside.
• Double check trailer safety chains so they are not dragging on roadways.
• Properly dispose of smoking materials. Never toss them from a vehicle or onto the ground.
Help protect your home, your neighbors, and our first responders. If you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.
