Makers Together

Ever find yourself staring at your workspace wondering if you should actually do something today?

That’s where our twice-weekly virtual co-working comes in. It’s like having a little push, a cheer squad, and some friendly accountability — all rolled into one. You show up, make progress, and realize you’re not doing it alone.

Tell us: what project would you work on during a co-working session?

Exciting things are happening at Makers Together as we move into our 2026-2027 year. Last night was our Annual Membership meeting and we continue to be grateful that our members are ready with their questions and active participation.

Congratulations to Joann Mariahazy who was re-elected as Treasurer, and to Loren Cornell who was elected as Vice-President. We appreciate all the work you and the rest of the Board of Directors do.

It’s Autumn! The season of warmth. Flannel & fleece. Hot tea & hot chocolate. Bon fires & fireplaces.

And of course, warm colors! What are you working on that includes orange, yellow, red or brown?

Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t have to mean you’re doing anything wrong. It often means you’re trying to do everything right while carrying the weight of a whole business on your shoulders.

We actually talk each other through that all the time at Makers Together. You’re the CEO, the marketing team, the accountant, the studio artist and more ALL AT ONCE and that many “employees” in your head can get loud.

Here are a few gentle, practical steps to help lift that feeling and regain some balance.

Get specific on what’s not working - Don’t think “it’s not working”, dive deep to figure out the root cause so you can tackle it.

Go for a Walk: Let fresh air in, breathe out the toxicity.

Talk to someone - Will it be a fellow business owner who knows the feeling, or will it be that friend who calls it like it is?

Practice Self-Care - What clears your mind: meditation? making tea? loud music to drown out your own thoughts? clearing off the clutter for a minute?

Do a Good Deed - Text someone that you’re thinking of them. Refresh the coffee pot (or pay for the drink of the person behind you). Pick up that litter. Wave hello to someone.

Join us for a relaxed, in-person meetup with Makers Together® members and friends! Whether you're here to talk shop as an artisan or maker, share ideas, or just enjoy a good drink and good company, you're welcome at the table.

• Sep 25, 2026, 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM

Not in Northeast Wisconsin? No problem — take yourself (and maybe a fellow maker) out for a creative break wherever you are. Let's make it a day for creative talk, together.

Not every creative business has to look the same — or follow a formula.

With Makers Together’s recorded presentations and downloadable resources, you can pick and choose what works for you. Build a business that fits your goals, pace, and personality.

Don’t forget: Makers Together is a group of small business owners navigating the road of discovery. We’re not coaches, and we don’t have all the answers all the time. We're learning along with yout!

But if you ask the questions, we’ll look for resources to help us all succeed. Because your creative life deserves a plan that feels like yours, not someone else’s.

You don’t realize until you have it. That small group of people who can understand your frustration, or can listen if you just need to vent, can help you brainstorm if you’re stuck.

Don’t be afraid to try finding other small business owners to network with and become accountability buddies. You may find you each just need a check-in or outside perspective to keep you on track and feel like you’re not alone in your entrepreneurship.

Is it a day where you just can’t concentrate? Take a minute to reboot your brain.

Make a face and puff out those cheeks. Make up the words to a tune you like. Doodle startled emojis. We’re aiming for something that feels completely outside your normal zone so you can breathe and refocus afterward.

Art doesn’t survive on talent alone. It survives when people take the time to support the hands and hearts behind it.

Makers Together is a 100% volunteer-run organization supporting artisans with education, community, and practical business knowledge. Everything we do is built on care, shared wisdom, and a very small budget.

If you’d like to help, you can donate time, share expertise, or contribute financially to keep this work going.
