⏰ THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!
World Dairy Expo kicks off TUESDAY, and we’re getting ready to see you in Madison!
The chutes are ready. The Appleton Lounge is waiting. And we’re looking forward to another great week connecting with trimmers, dairymen, and friends from across the industry.
2 DAYS TO GO! 🐄
Who’s headed to World Dairy Expo this week? 👇
There’s a reason people come back to World Dairy Expo year after year.
It’s a place to see some of the best cows and top genetics in the world. To watch years of hard work and breeding programs come together in the show ring. To celebrate traditions that have been passed down through generations—and see the innovation that continues to move the dairy industry forward.
Expo is an opportunity to connect with colleagues and discuss best practices. It's also where you'll find vendor expertise to share ideas with and explore opportunities to take your business to the next level.
But Expo is also about the people.
It’s running into old friends, making new connections, talking shop, checking out equipment, and spending a few days surrounded by people who understand and appreciate this industry.
And for our hoof trimmers, don’t forget about one of our favorite Expo traditions:
🍽️ Trimmer Dinner — Wednesday evening
A chance to step away from the show, grab some good food, catch up with other trimmers, and enjoy a night put together specifically for you.
And while you’re making your way around Expo, be sure to stop by the Appleton Lounge. Pull up a chair, take a break, and hang out with us for a while.
Come see what’s new. Celebrate the traditions. See some incredible cattle. Connect with great people.
We’ll see you in Madison! 👊🐄

The Evolution of the Professional Hoof Trimmer
Week 8 Series— Where We’ve Been & Where We’re Going
Eight weeks. Decades of change. And a profession that continues to evolve.
We started this series at a time when the professional hoof trimmer didn’t really exist.
Cows spent more time on pasture, natural wear did much of the work, and routine hoof care looked very different than it does today.
Then the dairy industry changed.
Housing changed. Production changed. Cows changed. And with it came a greater need for routine hoof care.
A profession was born.
Over the years, we’ve watched trimming go from a largely reactive job to an important part of preventative herd health. We’ve seen techniques become more refined, our understanding of hoof health grow, and equipment evolve from basic restraint systems to the advanced hydraulic chutes trimmers rely on today.
But maybe the biggest evolution has been the professional hoof trimmer themselves.
Today’s trimmer is part craftsman, part hoof-health expert, part cattleman, part mechanic, part business owner—and always a student of the cow.
And we’re not done yet.
Technology will continue to change. Equipment will get better. Research will teach us more. But this profession will continue to be built by the people willing to learn, adapt, share what they know and put in the work.
To the trimmers who helped build this profession, those carrying it forward today, and the next generation just getting started—thank you for being part of the story.
We’ve spent eight weeks looking back.
Now we’d love to hear from you:
What do you think the next 20 years of professional hoof trimming will look like?
Did you you miss us last year at the World Dairy Expo? No worries. We are back again and better than ever!

World Dairy Expo is right around the corner! 🐄
Year after year, you can count on Appleton Steel being there.
For us, World Dairy Expo has never been just about showing up with equipment. It’s about showing up for the industry and the people who keep it moving.
It’s a chance to reconnect with trimmers we’ve known for years, meet new faces, talk with dairymen and dairy operators, swap stories, answer questions, and spend time with the people we build our equipment for.
This year is no different.
