Friday evening, we welcomed our ATC candidates to Appleton with a Candidate Reception at Blaze Bar in the Hilton Appleton Paper Valley Hotel.

Blaze is a firefighter-themed bar created in partnership with Pierce Mfg, a leading fire apparatus manufacturer also based here in Appleton.

The setting felt especially meaningful on September 11, as we marked 25 years since a day that demonstrated the courage, sacrifice and shared commitment of our nation’s first responders. While police and fire may enjoy a friendly rivalry, they are united by a common mission: protecting the communities they serve.

Pictured are members of ASP’s leadership and Training Cadre, who helped welcome our candidates and kick off their ATC experience during ASP’s 50th Anniversary IMPACT Week.

Today is the first day of ASP Trainer Recertification in Appleton, Wisconsin. Before taking the training floor, our Trainers and staff paused to remember September 11, 2001.

Three of our Trainers were NYPD officers in New York City on 9/11, and we were honored to hear their firsthand accounts. Their message was one of unity—how officers from across the state, the country and around the world came together to support their brothers and sisters.

We will always remember. We will never forget.

From Baton to Blade: The ASP Damascus Knife 09/02/2026

What do you get when you turn 20 ASP Baton tubes into Damascus steel?

A one-of-a-kind knife—and a pretty incredible story.

For our 2025 Christmas in July celebration, ASP employees wanted to give founder and CEO Dr. Kevin Parsons something that represented the company he started nearly 50 years ago. Texas knifemaker Tyler Tipton of Tipton Hill Forge took steel from ASP Batons, combined it with high-carbon steel and forged it into a custom Damascus blade.

Shooting News Weekly recently took a closer look at the craftsmanship, people and story behind this very special piece.

From Baton to Blade: The ASP Damascus Knife While I consider myself much more of a knife user than a collector, and don’t generally dabble much in presentation knives, sometimes you run across a story that’s just worth telling.

Principle‑Based Training: ASP’s 3D Defensive Tactics System • Spotter Up 09/01/2026

A recent Spotter Up article takes a closer look at ASP’s principle-based approach to training and the 3D System of Defensive Tactics: Distract. Disorient. Disable.

The article explores how the 3D framework helps simplify decision-making and reduce complexity when officers have only seconds to respond.
