Console Repairs by Travis

PS5 came in and after diagnosing, the error codes revealed there was an issue with the RAM. After reballing the RAM chips, it’s back up and running. And yes those tiny balls of solder are hand placed with the help of a stencil-believe it or not when Trav started he didn’t have that stencil so any wrong move and he would have to start over.

Another example that CRT does more.

This PS5 came in for a front port to be swapped. Upon digging into it, found this usb controller chip basically exploded. So not only was the original problem fixed, but one that was unknown to the owner too. Travis will always do a once over while he’s got your consoles torn apart and if he finds anything is in touch with you to go over what needs to be done.

We’ve had quite a few more followers over the past couple months, so thought it’d be a good idea to reintroduce Travis!

Ever wonder who the heck you’re messaging or talking to about repairs? This guy right here, Travis, Trav, he’ll probably answer to anything to be honest. Travis got his start buying broken consoles, fixing them and then throwing them back onto marketplace. What was really more a hobby turned into him reaching out to local gaming shops to see if they had anything in back that needed fixing, them liking how good of a job he had done and Travis thinking - there’s really no local repair shops around, let’s see where this goes. Tinkering with what he had turned to needing a space-spare bedroom at home works, then needing better equipment, needing more space-moved into his current office, and really the rest is history.

This PS5 came in, would power on and right back off. After digging into it, found this capacitor was the cause. Turns out, they’re not supposed to crack like that. New one was installed and good as new.

Did you know when Travis does work on your stuff, he’ll do a cleaning since he’s already got it opened up? May not seem like a big deal, but the times he’s worked on something that was previously worked on that is still dirty/dusty, gross. Just another reason why Travis’s work is top notch.

Another example that just because you bring your items to a big chain for repairs doesn’t mean you’ll get quality work. Previous work and poor installation likely caused the need for another replacement HDMI port. When you bring your consoles to CRT, Travis takes great care and if this doesn’t show you that, I don’t know what will. How this PS5 came to the shop versus how it left CRT.

Well, we got back from vacation and Trav couldn’t stay away from you guys! He’s working on getting in touch with anyone who reached out over the last week, we just ask for patience as a lot that reached out didn’t know he was out, so he’s a little backed up.
