Hagar Comfort Dog

You may remember that my team and I deployed to support the community in the days after the shooting. The Annunciation community remains close to my heart. Friends, I humbly request your prayers for the Annunciation community on the anniversary of the tragedy.

One year later, we remember. ❤️

The past two weekends, my team helped me celebrate the 5-year anniversary of my ministry. We celebrated at both ministry centers and there were lots of treats for both humans and dogs. I had one of the dog treats at home after the event and it was delicious, so I'm sure the human treats were tasty too.

I want to thank everyone who helped me celebrate. I especially want to thank my team for all their hard work - not just for the celebration, but throughout the years; without each of you, my ministry would not be possible.

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8 NIV

Friends, this week one of my handlers suffered a loss. I don't want to share too much information, but I would appreciate prayers for my team member.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV

Recently I was invited to offer comfort to participants at an ALICE training session at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. The training helps school staff prepare for active threats. I got to work with my friends Edison, Sergeant Duven, and Officer Cody from the Appleton Police Department.

Gunfire sounds were used in the training scenarios. I had never heard that sound before and my handler put his hand on my chest to offer me comfort and reassurance. I tried to offer that same comfort to anyone who needed it. I believe God sees us and comforts us in the same way.

Keeping students safe isn't easy. God Sees You, Hagar 💜🐾

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is the Father who is full of mercy. And he is the God of all comfort. He comforts us every time we have trouble, so that we can comfort others when they have trouble. We can comfort them with the same comfort that God gives us." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ICB

Recently Charity Comfort Dog, Sage Comfort Dog , Believe Comfort Dog and I attended a VBS event in Menomonee Falls. I love serving with my LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs friends. Seeing the children's joy when they saw us made my day. Fun fact, many of the children were so excited to see us that they ran to visit with us before enjoying the bounce houses.

"But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to people who are like these children.” Matthew 19:14 ICB

My friend Samaria Comfort Dog and I made a second visit to the American Red Cross shelter at Christ the Rock Church this week. The shelter is housing families who were displaced by the tornado in Menasha earlier this week.

On this visit I learned that humans also play ball to relax. The shelter organized outdoor games for the children at the shelter and I got to watch. You don't have to play ball, but even in the most difficult times it is important to take a few moments to decompress.

"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" Psalm 46:10 NKJV

Today my friend Samaria Comfort Dog and I visited the American Red Cross shelter at Christ the Rock Church. We met the volunteers and offered comfort and encouragement to families staying at the shelter.

Friends, I humbly request that you keep the residents of Menasha in your prayers. These families were going about their day on Monday and had their entire life changed in a matter of moments. Their needs are great, but God is greater.

"I say to myself, “The Lord is what I have left. So I have hope.” Lamentations 3:24 ICB

Friends, check it out, my church is hosting an event to gather the community together for prayer and fellowship. My team tells me that I'll be there. I hope you're able to join us. Everyone is welcome.

Friends, I have a serious post today. This morning my area was struck by some devastating storms. I am safe, but many homes and businesses are damaged, and many people are without power. Friends, I humbly request that you please pray for all who were impacted by the storm.

If you are local and without power, Faith Lutheran Church's Glendale site will be open this evening (Monday) from 5:00 - 8:00 if you need a place to charge your devices or just to enjoy some air conditioning.

"The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And He knows those who take refuge in Him." Nahum 1:7 NASB

This week my church was transformed to Rainforest Falls for VBS. I got to check out the decorations and visit with the students. I've never been to the rainforest, but I'm pretty sure it looks exactly like this.

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you. Or ask the birds of the air, and they will tell you. Speak to the earth, and it will teach you. Or let the fish of the sea tell you. Every one of these knows that the hand of the Lord has done this. The life of every creature and the breath of all people are in God’s hand." Job 12:7-10 ICB
