Outagamie County Parks is proud to partner with the Fox Valley Army ROTC program as it conducts leadership training at Plamann Park on Thursdays from 6:30am to 9am.

Fox Valley ROTC is a part of the Golden Eagle ROTC Battalion, headquartered at Marquette University. Cadets from UW-Oshkosh, St Norbert College, Marian University, Ripon College, and UW-Green Bay make up the Fox Valley portion of the Golden Eagle Battalion.

What to expect –
*Training will take place in specific areas of the park identified by Parks staff and is designed not to interfere with the public’s use and enjoyment of Plamann Park
*Training participants will carry clearly marked facsimile training equipment, commonly referred to as "rubber ducks", that cannot fire any projectiles and they will not use any weapons, explosives, or similar devices.
*All personnel participating in the training will be wearing the Army Combat Uniform, often referred to as ACUs or OCPs.
*Temporary notices will be posted near the training area so visitors know where activities are taking place and which areas to avoid if they prefer a quieter experience.

This collaboration supports the Parks Department’s broader mission to use public spaces as places where people learn, grow, and build community together. By hosting ROTC leadership training in a natural setting, we are helping future officers develop teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience skills in the same public spaces that support families, trail users, and community events. Parks have long served as our shared “commons” – welcoming places where people from different backgrounds can connect, see one another as neighbors, and strengthen social ties. This partnership reflects that role by bringing student leaders into our park system in a way that is safe, and focused on service, character, and civic responsibility. Plamann Park is one of Outagamie County’s flagship community spaces, and our Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan emphasizes using parks to support physical health, mental well-being, and social cohesion. Thoughtful partnerships like this one help us activate our parks in new ways, expanding educational opportunities, modeling positive leadership, and demonstrating that public lands can benefit both everyday park users and those preparing for future public service.

If you are visiting Plamann Park on the morning of October 1, October 8, October 15, October 29, November 5 and November 12 from 6:30-9:00AM , thank you for your patience and for sharing this space with the next generation of leaders.

Celebrating an Amazing Summer at Plamann Lake!

As summer comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank the incredible Plamann Lake lifeguards and concession staff for an outstanding season of service to our community.

This summer, our staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism, teamwork, compassion, and dedication—especially when responding to multiple medical emergencies. Their calm and thoughtful actions helped ensure that people received the assistance and care they needed when it mattered most.

But their contribution goes far beyond those moments. Day after day, they helped make Plamann Lake a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable place for residents and visitors to spend their summer.

On August 21st, Thomas M. Nelson, County Executive of Outagamie County was proud to issue an Executive Proclamation recognizing and commending the Plamann Lake Lifeguards and Concession Staff for their exceptional service throughout the summer of 2026.

Thank you to every member of the Plamann Lake team for your hard work, your commitment, and for making this an amazing summer. We are grateful for all that you do!
