I’m approaching the end of the first draft of Bloodline, the fourth book in the World’s End series. I have spent over 200 hours writing this massive world-building story, easily the largest one in the series to date.

I’ve been waiting months to write the chapters I just finished. I knew going in what they were going to be, but not how emotionally draining they would end up being. They were emotionally difficult to write, and I did tear up at a few points.

World’s End has never been darker. Even with everything Rebecca has been through in the first three books, this one is going to hit differently. This book is about discovery. And what Rebecca discovers fundamentally changes her.

These chapters were quieter than I thought they’d be. On the other side of these chapters, she’s not the same, but she’s still Rebecca.

For what that’s worth.

Now the climax begins.

The end of the first draft is very, very close.
