🍇 Harvest in Southern Oregon wine country runs September into early November. The crush pads are running, the small houses let you watch the work, and the reds here are the ones the rest of Oregon can’t ripen: Syrah, Tempranillo, Cabernet, Merlot.

How we’d plan the weekend, one direction a day:

The Ashland wineries are closest, about 30 minutes: Weisinger, Irvine & Roberts, Belle Fiore, Grizzly Peak, Dana Campbell.
Medford, about 45: RoxyAnn and EdenVale.
About an hour: DANCIN near Jacksonville, or Kriselle and Bayer Family Estate up the valley.
The Applegate, an hour and more: Valley View and Troon. Give it its own day.

Taste in daylight. Carry a bottle up Highway 66 and drink it on the deck at 4,500 feet, inside the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Use a designated driver.
