There is something grounding about working in the same communities your colleagues have served for generations. Our team takes pride in knowing the neighborhoods - the microclimates, the soil types, the building styles - because that local knowledge directly informs how we approach each property. Familiarity breeds better outcomes.

Rodents are remarkably capable climbers and can compress their bodies to squeeze through openings as small as a quarter. Roof rats, common in California, often gain access through gaps where utility lines enter a structure or where roofing materials have shifted over time. Knowing the entry points they favor is essential for effective exclusion.

Key Termite and Pest Control has been rooted in the Central Coast since 1945. Founded on the principle of people before profits, the company has outlasted trends and economic shifts by staying committed to honest assessments and quality work. That founding vision still guides every inspection and treatment performed today.

What exactly happens during a general pest inspection? A licensed inspector examines accessible areas of a structure - foundation, crawl spaces, attic entry points, and perimeter - looking for evidence of activity, entry points, and conditions that attract pests. The goal is a clear picture of what is present and what might invite problems down the road.

Mosquitoes do not just appear randomly. They breed in standing water - even a bottle cap holding a small amount of rainwater is enough for a larva to develop. Emptying containers, clearing gutters, and refreshing birdbaths weekly are practical habits that can meaningfully reduce mosquito populations around your property without any professional intervention.

A morning briefing before heading out on route is a small ritual that shapes the quality of every job. Technicians review the day ahead, confirm equipment, and discuss any site-specific notes from previous visits. Those few minutes of preparation are often the difference between a routine inspection and one that uncovers something important.

Our inspectors cover a wide stretch of the Central Coast - from Paso Robles and Atascadero down through San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande, Santa Maria, and the surrounding communities. Knowing your local service area means faster response times and technicians who are familiar with the regional pest pressures unique to this part of California. ☎️ (805) 466-2451

There is a common belief that cockroaches only appear in dirty homes. The truth is that cockroaches are opportunists attracted to moisture and warmth as much as to food. Even immaculate kitchens can experience an infestation if there is a plumbing leak or a small gap around pipes. Cleanliness helps, but it is not the only factor at play.

Ant colonies are far more organized than most people realize. A single colony can contain hundreds of thousands of workers, and when foragers find a food source they leave a chemical trail that recruits the entire team within minutes. That rapid mobilization is exactly why a small ant sighting indoors can turn into a significant problem so quickly.
