Athens Canine Rescue

🌟Princess Donut has been adopted!! 👸🍩 For those who haven’t been following along to her story, Princess Donut was found in the woods in Athens by a good samaritan last May with whom we assumed was her puppy. The puppy got adopted quickly. However, due to her old injuries, she was not able to open her jaw for more than an inch, so ACR took her in to get her the medical care she needed. After her jaw surgery, Princess Donut started to heal and began to thrive under her foster family’s care. In fact, she got along so well with her foster siblings that her foster parents decided to keep her! When approached for comment, Princess donut said “I’m looking forward to more wrestling with my fur siblings, endless cuddling sesh with my humans, and… wait, was that a chipmunk? Did you see that?! Where’d it go??? *sniff* *sniff* *sniff* *sniff*” 🐿️🐕

🐾WE ARE LOOKING FOR FOSTER HOMES🐾

We need your help to continue saving dogs.

We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue with no facility. We don’t have a shelter or building where our dogs can stay. Instead, our rescue operates completely out of the homes of our volunteer foster families.

Because of that, our ability to save a dog depends on having a foster home available.

When you foster, you’re giving a dog a safe place to land while we work toward finding their forever family. You get to be part of their journey, helping them decompress, learn, feel safe, and discover what it means to be loved.

❤️ And fostering does not cost you anything.

We provide the supplies needed for your foster dog, including food and other necessary items, as well as veterinary care. Our volunteers are there to support you throughout the foster experience.

You provide:
🏡 A safe place to stay
🐾 Patience and compassion
❤️ Love and attention
📣 Help sharing their story so we can find their forever home

You do not have to be a professional dog trainer or have years of rescue experience. We’ll work with you and support you.

Every foster home that opens its doors allows us to say YES to another dog who needs help.

If you’ve been thinking about fostering but weren’t sure if you could do it, please reach out. You could make an incredible difference in a dog’s life and you might just discover that fostering is one of the most rewarding things you’ve ever done. ❤️

He's been waiting so patiently for his furever home. He's a timid little fella, without a mean bone in his body, and the cutest under bite.
