Project Safe Inc.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, keep an eye out all month long for information about ways to keep yourself and others safe as well as events in honor of and supporting survivors.

One week ago, we had a VERY busy day at Project Safe! First, we were excited to give a presentation to the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs on pets and domestic violence, then our friends at Toppers held their Second Annual Car & Bike Wash benefiting Project Safe. Finally, we had Groovy Nights!

Nine teams took the stage during Athens' raddest lip sync battle and dance party, and they all put on a fantastic show! Thanks to all of the awesome folks who joined us and supported our teams, Project Safe raised over $45,000 for our work empowering survivors of domestic violence! Congratulations to our winners:

Audience Favorite Award - Team 8 (Team Clawsome)
Judges' Favorite Award - Team 2 (Shakti Spice)
Honorable Mention - Team 5 (Team Baby Bats)

Maggie was so excited for she already had her whole outfit picked out! When she found out she couldn't go, she was a little disappointed, but she's sure that all of her friends around Athens will get their tickets to support Project Safe and all of the great teams that are performing this Saturday in her place, and then post lots of pictures so she can enjoy the fun from home!

If you're willing to help Maggie enjoy Groovy Nights this Saturday, go to https://tinyurl.com/groovynights to get your tickets today, or you can get tickets at the door on Saturday! Maggie is counting on YOU!

Groovy Nights Retro Lip Sync Battle is coming up this Saturday, September 19! Meet all of your super awesome teams who will be on stage at the VFW performing some of your favorite hits from the 70's, 80's, and 90's! The dance floor will be hopping with even more great classics, there will be food aplenty (included with your ticket), and drinks will be pouring at the VFW bar!

Groovy Nights honors the roots of our movement and our organization in the 1970's as a network of volunteers who opened their homes to women in danger from abusive spouses, and seeks to bring a spirit of community and togetherness in a time when it would be so easy for us all to pull away from each other.

If you are someone who's looking for a great evening after an early away game and believes that EVERYONE deserves to be safe in their homes and relationships, this is the event for you! We'll see you on the dance floor on Saturday!

Don't forget to join us at Marti's at Midday today to remember Marti's birthday and support Team 4 - Hard Hats & Heels!
