Athenspets, Inc.
is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping the most vulnerable animals in the Athens (GA) area and the people who love them. On this page, we (1) publicize the animals impounded at Athens-Clarke County Animal Services for reclaim, adoption, or rescue, and (2) raise funds for the extraordinary medical costs of the shelter animals, community spay/neuter of cats & dogs otherwise at high risk of adding to pet overpopulation in our area, and making the lives of shelter animals and community pets in good, if impoverished, homes better. Some of the animals we feature have been severely neglected or abused prior to impound and we include honest, if minimal, descriptions of these circumstances. Amazon wishlist: https://a.co/8va4AkN

If you are a 501(c)(3) that provides low cost / free vet care (including spay / neuter) for community members (not just rescue / shelter animals) and have not yet applied for a Duffield Foundation Boost grant ($10,000), you should do so ASAP--I know of at least 6 orgs that applied and were approved almost immediately which means, since there are only 250 of these grants available, the money is going FAST and will be gone long before the December 16th close date.
Boost Grants | Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation Duffield Boost Grants provide $10,000 one-time grants to nonprofit veterinary clinics providing free or low-cost care for family pets.

🐾 Fall in love… find a friend! ❤️
Come meet some of the adorable adoptable dogs from the Athens-Clarke County Animal Services shelter this Saturday, October 3rd from 10–2 at Petsense by Tractor Supply at Hwy 29 - across from Kroger!
They’ll be bringing the wagging tails, goofy grins, and plenty of kisses. You just might meet the one you’ve been waiting for.
Stop by, say hello, and help us get some shelter pups OUT of the shelter and INTO homes!

UPDATE: ADOPTED! Athens-Clarke County Animal Services has two bearded dragons now available for adoption! Check out the flyer for more info.
Update: We’ve just learned that Kilo has adenovirus and, because they have been living together, Kiki has been exposed to it. While this condition can be managed, they should not be adopted into homes with other reptiles that are not also positive for adenovirus.
